Missed moto 1. What happened, bad start, crash, slow? I'm a fan, but we're 5 motos in and he pulls a 5th place. Not looking too strong.

He was 3rd off the start. Blew out a berm and went down, lost a few spots and came back to 5th at the finish.

But he wins practice every week! He obviously has the speed, but...

As big of a disappointment to his fans as JLaw is? I'm losing my enthusiasm.

He needs to start making up points on Alessi next moto. It's a long series, but Alessi looks great. Reed will have to rack up a lot of wins to take the championship, barring some major mishap from Mike.

Reed had a good start. He was 4Th. Reeds problem is he is a wait and see what happens kind of a guy and by the time he has seen whats happening on the track it 2 late for him to make a charge. Old habits are hard to break. On top of that If Reed is going to need 20 min to get by IT then he is not what everyone thought he was going to be.

I can't get over how quickly people want to give up on a rider. I've never known Reed to give up and I can't see him doing that now. He will be back and putting out 100% effort like he always does. If that isn't good enough to win, then it isn't good enough, but the effort will be there.

I'd say he was riding pretty good for a SX 'specialist' who only decided to race the series a couple of days before the first round.

He's definately improved since last years MXdN thats for sure!

Reed has been riding consistent and pretty smooth. He knows how to win championships and will get better I believe every week. He's been looking good so far.

I know you're not a Reed fan, but I agree with most of what you say. However, this early race problem is not an old habit, it's a new trend, indoor and out.

He has never had, and will never have, what it takes to beat the fastest guys on the track.

It's like 2009 SX, Chad needed a sense of urgency and focus at round 2. I think he was too cautious early in the season. Now in MX, he's got to go now if he wants the #1 plate.

How many #1 plates have you won? How many has Chad won? I think he probably knows better what he needs to do than anyone on this Internet board. He may be waiting until he is in a little better shape physically before he starts pushing the pace. He may know that he isn't capable of going flat out for 30 mins + 2 laps yet. I'm not saying that it may not be too late to catch Alessi in the points by then, but there are still a lot of motos left to run.

I agree, Reed seems to have a less agressive start/first few laps. Maybe that's a habit he picked up in the GP's. I recall one of the Euro riders saying that was one of the differences between American riders and the GP's: The U.S. riders go much harder from the start.

Because Reed has never ridden the outdoors...

He does need to get on it now, if he has any hopes for a title. He can't give up too many points to Alessi, 'cuz he does charge hard from the start, and could be long gone by the time Reed works his way through traffic.

easy there Sparky, I'm a Reed fan, but he said he's in it for the championship. I'm just hoping he gets it going before it's too late. And it's not about what I know( very little), or what he knows(a ton), it's about how he rides. It's about points.

Chads tampon string got caught in his chain, and when that sucker came buning out of there, I heard him squeal 1100 miles away.
