Its been a long time to bring this thred back but still not as old as 10/10/1976.That suiside hill was spectacular!!!!!!!I use to drive down from silver city new mexico to the races at borderland.My dad had a nice nicon f2 he took these pixs.I am on 76 and a friend from silver city is on 11 over the hill on 121





I remember that rubber band well. Before I started racing I used to hang out at the start line to watch riders go off. I remember they had that rubber band attached to a screwdriver that they pulled out of a wooden post. All was good until a rider jumped the gun and the rubber band snapped and hit me in the chest. Dang that hurt. Someone ended up welding up a proper start gate years later and they moved the start up the hill by the tower.

My bad thinking that was 77 but realy 1978 Sue had got a new 78 yz 125 from Yamaha of el paso.The other day I was looking at old motocrosss actions and found article of her raceing at the dunes in ca. in 1976 and she was on a 76 like mine they stand out like the have a speedo and tack on the forks.I gess what I am getting at my 76 was old then.Ha!!!

Sue is my sister. We raced together! She was first I was second. We raced for Yamaha of El Paso back in the day. I am grateful that you remembered us♥️

Chris, I remember that rubber band start. I was always so afraid that I was going to get hit by it! I think it was my brother FRANCIS built the gate for us.

Hi Pappajoe79. This is Pat Hanlon with Hill Country Motorheads motorcycle museum in Burnet, TX. A few years ago I purchased Harry's 69 Maico 250 from a guy in EP that claimed to be the son of your dad's friend (Richard?). We have started the restoration process and I'm hoping to have it finished by summertime and in the museum. We plan to highlight his life and career with the bike , so it would be nice to get your input. Please look us up at hcmotorheads.com and come see us. I raced against Harry for years...from 100s to 250s and 400s.
Me leading Grant Gose and Harry West, all on Hodaka 100s.
I think the picture is from the old Cloudcroft track, I was probably 16 so figure about 1969...?

Is this Gene Durham, #3N. I think that's Wayne Chick on 5N.

I always liked this picture, it was published backwards...Hence the #81 and not #18, and the throttle in my left hand...
It was in the 1973 El Paso "Teen Times", I was right about 20...Winning.
