I raced the Deming track a lot. 1st 100cc to win the main event.

Deming New Mexico, my dad posted this picture a month before he passed. We own the old TT track in Deming New Mexico if anyone remembers or even has pictures that would be amazing to share to me

One more...I knew I had a picture of this, felt like someone hit my knee with a sledgehammer, stuck my foot in a hole...DOH! Ossa 250 Kept me off a bike for a couple months. Borderland, of course.

I remember that rubber band well. Before I started racing I used to hang out at the start line to watch riders go off. I remember they had that rubber band attached to a screwdriver that they pulled out of a wooden post. All was good until a rider jumped the gun and the rubber band snapped and hit me in the chest. Dang that hurt. Someone ended up welding up a proper start gate years later and they moved the start up the hill by the tower.

My bad thinking that was 77 but realy 1978 Sue had got a new 78 yz 125 from Yamaha of el paso.The other day I was looking at old motocrosss actions and found article of her raceing at the dunes in ca. in 1976 and she was on a 76 like mine they stand out like the have a speedo and tack on the forks.I gess what I am getting at my 76 was old then.Ha!!!

This is an old newspaper clipping from a race out at Stahmann farms back in 1980 or 81. Thought you'd enjoy another flashback from the good old days of motocross. I think that one of the guy in the picture is Randy Stahmann, the other is Joel Craig.

The name "Star Track" was selected by vote of the Southwest Dirt Riders Association in the late winter/early spring of 1977. The president of the Southwest Dirt Riders Association was Mr. LaPointe and he organized the races. His son was a fast rider. That was the end of the name Borderland.
