Rode 3 laps today the bike has 20 hours it died like it ran out of gas and won’t even try to crank over now anyone else out there experience anything like this. Hopefully the warranty covers it but still curious as to the cause

If its not turning over its a bad battery or bad starter.

Would that make it just die on the track though this is my main concern I understand the battery not turning the engine over but why did it just cut out and die

A bad battery can pull all the electricity from the system. When a liquid cell battery fails it is most of the time from a battery lead plate breaking loose inside and when current flows it creates a dead short. This can result with a battery that shows to be charged and at about 12 volts with no load, but under load it has a voltage drop down well below 10 volts.
So the battery will turn the engine over or does it turn over and just not start?
OEM batteries are junk. If the starter does not turn it over, then first load test the battery. If it is bad then replace it with a good LI battery. If it does turn the motor over but does not start, then you may have dirt and water in the electrical connections. Pull them apart , clean and then install Dielectric grease in each and pug them back together.

The bike died on the track then has absolutely no response hitting the start button it’s at the dealer now hopefully the warranty covers anything that broke I’ll update here when I find out what happened. 20 hours on a new bike is horrible for it to leave someone stranded in the middle of nowhere 👎

Dang … sorry to hear this ... how did things turn out once the dealer had a chance to assess things?

It was the battery Yamaha gave me a new one but I had to pay for diagnostic and install so if your bike dies just put a new battery in it. The warranty usually won’t cover battery issues I’m happy to help support my local dealer but two weeks without my ride was the issue for me 🤙

Invest in a good Li battery to replace the crap OEM unit. They work well and last.

Same with a car. Battery dies it will cause your car to die. The alternator can’t keep up

Pawpaw....the charging voltage is different between Li and lead acid batteries. The two are not interchangeable. Besides, the new bikes typically don't come with lead acid

Buy a Honda...they'll run without the battery. Suzuki's will too
