A Stars will really never be here in the gear market due to the flooding of companies that already exist. Plus A Stars was never setting out to dominate the gear market but to make sure other riders could still run their boots without the conflict being involved. Its really strange but thats what I have been told. When I raced Phoenix, they had a guy fly over from Italy to hand deliver me my gear since they dont have ANY here in the US. Sad to because the gear is some of the best I have ever worn!!

A Stars gear is readily available here in NZ, the NZ distributor is Crown Kiwi Enterprises which is owned by Shayne King a former MX 500cc World Champ. They sell to dealers and bike shops etc. I don't know whether they would or could sell to US customers but you could ask them.

I think Alpinestar should sell their gear here. I would definitely buy it, it looks nice and clean. I bet others feel the same way, imagine all the money they'd make...

GuyB is correct.
Parts Unlimited is the largest distributor of AStars boots and street apparel in the US.
AStars bringing in their gear would be in direct conflict with and cut into the profits of THOR, a Parts Unlimited owned and operated brand.
I understood it that AStars will keep their gear out as long as PU is moving their boots and street gear

The same reason any sponsor does, it creates visibilty for the Alpinestars brand. In the US market the product is boots, casual wear, and street bike gear.

Mikeys gear is a rolling Alpinestars billboard.

Sinisalo is the same way. To think that it was one of the top sellers in the 80's here in the US. They still make cool gear

It also comes down to PU selling their boots and street apparel. PU fronts the dealers sometimes 6 months no payments with spring dating ordering to put product in dealerships. So A-Star drop ships all product to PU and only has to handle advertising.

So for A-Star to compete with PU they have to have hire Reps- rent a Warehouse to stock all the product-In house financing to the dealers.and then compete head to head against the likes of PU and Tucker Rocky. It's just not worth the hassle or little bit of money they would make to sell gear.

Mike's stuff looks like it's all sublimated while other gear is stock with heat transfers added for that low budget look.

I know fly sublimates all their team gear, as well as MSR and A Stars.


The Scott gear looks amazing too, but they probably have the same distribution issue as A Stars, Only with Western Powersports, since WPS Owns Fly

I bought a few sets from the UK a couple years ago.....It was more expensive than buying gear here but not too bad.

I've got a full set of Blue '09 A Star Gear. I love it. Best gear I've ever had. My girlfriend ordered it from the UK. All I know is she paid a lot for it and It's worth every penny.

I think it has something to do with not limiting their boot market to owners of the Alpinestar gear only. For example. Fox boots only get worn by fox gear wearers. Currently they sell boots to wearers of every brand of gear. They dont want to limit their boot market.

We can freely buy Alpinestar gear here in Australia though. But our market would be tiny in comparison.
