A Josh Grant passing under yellow memory from 2007

It was Glen Helen 2007 and Josh Grant was racing the 250F class for Honda. A yamaha rider (Tickle or Lemoine...a star racing guy?) went down really hard in the jump prior to the sand section and the yellow flag was waving. The downed rider was being attended to by medical staff.

Grant was really going fast in third place behind Poto and Townley and I believe he was actually catching Townley. Well when the leaders came through the accident scene Ryan and Ben slowed ...but when Grant came through he didn't slow but looked as if he sped up to gain time on Townely.

I remember the incident and thought what a prick Josh Grant was. No consideration at all for the downed rider or staff.

So when when a rider is down in the middle of the track with medical staff attending to him and a yellow flag waving...you can still haul ass through that section????

No he didn't pass...your right... and I would correct the title if the SOFTWARE allowed it..

But speeding up in a section with a caution flag was my point. I saw both Villo and Ben back off but saw Grant get on it.

Do you think Grant could go any faster since he was catching Townely? He just didn't slow down.

2008 and back this was normal in the pro ranks....throw caution to the wind and hope for the best. That is why there is a new rule this year with the Yellow/Red flag.....track safety.

In SX, especially through the whoop section, they have yellow flags out all the time for riders. The guys that are coming through that section don't start rolling each one of them because of it. Even if the medics are out there too. They just change their lines and keep racing.

Passing, speeding up and racing during a yellow is allowed in AMA pro racing. That's why a yellow flag with red boxes across it is a bad idea in my opinion.
