Compared to the Yamaha’s, this 21 KX is way easier.

I just got these LUXON one piece mounts today. Twisted bars is a real problem on the KX450 stock mounts. The Luxon mount is super strong and light weight. It also comes with titanium fasteners. Very cool.

Little update since riding it several times. Really happy with my decision on the KX. Feels lighter and easier to ride than my YZ450. I find that it’s easier to ride this bike, faster and longer than my old bike. Still nothing done to it, other than air filter, grips and graphics. Suspension will be next as I did pick up another two stroke to help kill time lol. Enjoy

What year yz450? I own a 19 kx450 and sometimes im curious to see how the latest gen of yz450 really compares. I dont know anyone who owns the lastest gen yz450, so I cant test ride. Before I bought my 19, I owned a 13 kx450 since it was new, but sold it to buy my 19. The one big thing i miss about my 13 is that it had more power than the new 19, hence the reason id like to try a yamaha. More power also tires you out quicker. Everything else with the 19, is light years better than my 13 was. I just installed the Ride Eng. 21.5mm clamps, set the fork height to 5mm and she corners really good.

I dont believe this guy. His base price mightve been $8500. Does your state have no sales taX? Dealer cost on a 2021 kx450 is over $8500. Any kawi dealers out there care to back me up on that?

I posted a pic of the sale on the first page, take a look.... I live in VA, bought it in WV. Paid cash for it so they don’t add anything else to the sale price. It came with a CO (certificate of origin). If I would want a VA title, I would have to take it to the DMV and pay sales tax on 8500. Not sure why this is hard to believe when I clearly posted a pic of it.... but just in case

I had a 17, 18 and 19 YZ450F. I really liked all three of them. But they were so powerful and heavy feeling, it was difficult for me to ride at times. Make no mistake about it, the Yamaha power is nice but I really don’t miss it after being on the Kawasaki. I feel the Kawi handles better and the power being more mellow, makes it easier for me to ride for sure.

And yes grease the whole chassis. My steering bearings usually last about 20hrs before getting notchy.
This! Use molybdenum grease, it will make such a big difference if you ride in mud often. I used to replace my linkage bearings a few times a year, but since I started packing em with molybdenum they seem to last forever.

I just got a 2021 kx450 rode it did the break in procedure. Did the oil change today the manual says 1 us qt with oil filter change but it also says it should be right between low and high in the sight glass so half way or the middle. I put a full quart in ran it, shut it down let it sit for a few mins checked the sight glass and its all the way to the top of the sight glass. So according to what the manual says about being halfway im over filled. I drained oil out until is almost at the bottom of the sight glass filled it to right in the middle of the sight glass reading, ran it and rode it around the yard shut it down put it on the center stand and now it reads almost to the top of the sight glass. Wtf is going on i dont understand my 18 yz450 was so simple. Also when i looke at the sight glass before the oil change when i first got it in was right in the middle i was like wtf did this come low from the factory so i looked in the manual to see where it was supposed to be and right in the middle is what it says. So i ran it for the break in.

Maybe just measure what the manual spec says to put in and run it?

Thats what i was thinking to, but why would kawasaki give you 2 measurements with telling you the level with the sight glass and telling you the amount. Maybe just over thinking it. I just dont want to mess anything up

My 2016 KX450F is the same way. I’ve always just put 1 full quart in with a filter change (like the manual says) and it’s never had an issue. It just always reads over on the glass.

Just got a 21 kx 450. I read in the owners manual that to change the oil it would take 800cc without a new oil filter and 900cc with a new one. I did not change it and put the 800 cc in and still nothing in the sight glass. Could someone help me out it’s driving me nuts bike is level I don’t understand

start the bike and let it warm up. after warmup....check the site glass. If you added the correct amount....it would show up.

Start the bike let it warm up, shut it off wait a couple mins if nothing is in the sight glass add oil untill the sight glass is half full should be good at that point according to the manual, i like to run about 3/4 of the sight glass full which should be just a little shy of a full quart. I put a full quart in with filter change like the manual said and sight glass was completely full which again according to the owners manual is not correct. Kawasaki has a little contradiction right there but i called the dealer and talked to there head tech and said im good with they way im doing it. Hope this helps i was also very frustrated with the this, i had 2018 yz450f before this and the oil change was much simpler and straight forward it was also better cause yamaha provides a check bolt for the oil if you over fill you pull that bolt and it drains to seek the perfect level of oil kawasaki should add this. But besides the question on how much oil and the reading of oil level and being able to drain when over filled i am absolutely in love with this bike.
