Couldn’t find a thread about the latest pulp show so here I am. Listening to Sexton on Pulp mentioning the shit that Star Racing was trying at SLC has me embarrassed to own a Yamaha.

The SwapMoto/Pulp thing was unprofessional but funny in a way, but then we move onto the riders messing with Chase all day before the finale, taking Chase’s gate before the main, and then protesting his fuel after he’s won the championship.

All these things point to a toxic culture in the team, to throw your toy out of the pram after the season was won and done is disgusting.

Who makes these sort of calls or has such a negative influence on a team to make it act this way? Is it one person in particular that puts on this sort of display as a team? I had a friend yesterday say something like “well you own a Yamaha you must be all for that sort of shit”
I’m pretty brand loyal and came into the sport when MC’s factory Yamaha was the holy grail, so to have a team represent the brand in a childish way is embarrassing. I’m frickin glad McElrath had nothing for Chase.

Blaming one team for you being embarrassed to own a Yamaha is your opinion but don’t think for a second that 1 team or individual represents what a brand as a whole is about. Yamaha has come a long way in my opinion and are putting out some good bikes. Is it dumb what the team did? Yeah sure, but do we know the whole story? Probably not. Racing is a business and sometimes ones business strategies don’t align with what others would say is the right thing. They aren’t the only team pulling crap like that.

Amazing response, thank you for being objective but respectful, it’s quite rare around here Grinning

But yes your right it takes more than a team to represent a whole brand, but they do represent the brand never the less, they’re the factory 250 team, right?

Haha 🤷🏻‍♂️ Life’s too short to be an asshole all the time. Yes they are the 250 factory team and yes they represent the brand. I just see it as they were reaching for straws to try to wrap up a title for Yamaha, they just started reaching for some real short straws after the checkers.

I own a Yamaha, and I don't feel ashamed at all. Is that wrong?

As in, you support star racing’s tactics? Or you don’t correlate their values and you owning the brand that those values are representing?

Please don't start protesting and burning shit down, it is a protest within the Rules of the Sport.

You are allowed to be pissed, I would be if I was Geico but to be embarrassed to own a Yamaha is taking it too far.

To much of this happening lately - Cancel culture refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive.Cancel culture is generally discussed as being performed on social media in the form of group shaming.

Lol, it’s just a thread man. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not affecting me on the level of those that are protesting. I would never think for a second that this is on the same level as being offensive on a human level as race or the like. I’m sad that you’ve tried to link it to that sort of level, this is just moto after all.

This is just venting after being embarrassed for a brand that I’ve loved for years after their factory team showed their lack of morals and sportsmanship.

Grinning funny one, but fair point your trying to make. You’ve mentioned individual riders making weird decisions, not a team as a collective trying to do everything but actually win the damn race.

But yeah, point taken, gonna have to buy a Beta I guess

No worries Tobz, you have a right to vent.

I've learnt long time ago to ignore the trivial shit life throws at us...and have since lived alot happier.

May I suggest that you try not to identify with a brand of bike you ride so much?...it seems unhealthy, imo.

Hmm I don’t get your point. If I was on here defending Star’s actions because I own a Yamaha then I see where your coming from with referring to the article.

Absolutely!....but not to the point where I'm embarrassed to use a good product because of....whatever the Star team did.

Fair point. A good product is a good product, but I like good values of what a brand represents as well.

We know you riding a Yamaha has no bearing on what Star did, but maybe instead of putting numbers on the plates, you can write "I bought this Yamaha before Star fucked around with Chase!"Dry

Another funny.

Here’s a flip side to it, do you think Yamaha are happy with their brand being represented in such a way? I know Matthes has touched base on the swap moto saga that Yamaha were absolutely not happy with it. What makes you think they’re fine with their shitty tactics over the weekend?

You could always sell it.

Or you could ride it, enjoy it, and not be so sensitive.

Tobz, protesting is well within the rules of the Sport. Yamaha has protested. Lets say Geico is found to be running non complient fuel....what then?

You are sounding like Gretta Thundberg now..or whatever her name is.

If you are really that unhappy with Yamaha then send your banking details....ill give you a $100 for your bike and I'll pay for shipping.

I don't see why anyone should care what color bike you ride, or to feel like you should be associated with how that team operates. If someone were to judge me based on those circumstances, I would take pity that they have the maturity and cognitive abilities of a first-grader.
