Uh, Chad talks about his career, bikes, teams, competitors, races, contracts, crashes(crash landings). At length and in detail.
It doesn’t take unlimited time. Listen while you work, if you’re interested.

Well it's worth a listen when you get the time.

One major takeaway, he more or less spells out the culture and staff at Factory Yamaha is completely the problem with the race team. The process is wrong, they don't work directly with the Japanese, etc. Listening to him at various points, you can see how much he still has passion for Yamaha, but then he pretty much throws them under bus as only Chad can do.

Matthes, you need to get a part 2 of this to cover the 22 Motorsports years a bit better and of course if he would open up about 2016 and 2017 back with Yamaha.

Love him or hate him, Chad's bluntness is refreshing.

Just listened, very good. Chad needs to do a book where they can dive in to his history a little deeper than a pod cast can.

One small piece that caught my ear was how he doesn't believe he is old and slow... He doesn't believe he is a 15th place guy. He goes on further to suggest a "what if?" scenario where he puts in the work (a "bootcamp"), comes out the other side in real race shape. Then, if he still gets 15th, he has no problem accepting that.

As a long time Reed fan I wish he would in fact just give it one more go with an off season of intense training off the grid, no social media, and show up at A1 ready to fight. Fuck the haters, just go for it!

Going back to him talking about his fitness... He knows exactly where he's at currently and what he's missing. He believes he has a good base, but he is in no way the shape of the top guys who can scrub everything and over jump into corners, etc, for 20 mins. He's racing at a slower pace that he knows he can barely sustain for 20 minutes currently.... He saw Eli right in front of him last weekend and mentioned something along the lines that if he tried to latch on, he could maybe only push it for a few laps then he'd be gassed. Whereas, he knows Eli doesn't even need to think about it... It's just go go go, who cares how long the race is. Interesting to hear that insight!

Ah that reminds me of another thing... He's convinced that Dungey got more out of the bike and team when he switched to KTM. Doesn't feel like in Dungey's case that Aldon was a big reason for his success. That theme carries through much of the podcast with Chad conveying what he believes makes a successful team.

He misses the old days when team rivalries were huge and everyone "hated" each other. It was always about beating the other factories (especially Honda when he was on Yamaha) and "if you're not with us, you're against us" attitude. Everyone's bros in the pits now...

Loved it. Reed could do a miniseries of podcasts of all the shit he’s done and seen in all his stages of his career. Love the insight of bikes, teams, people, his contracts.

He did that last year... he was about a 5th place guy and got a podium, looked like he'd get another.
