Couple weeks ago i asked this forum if i should take MX lessons as a beginner.
Alot of you guys told me to do it & that it would help me out alot, some of you also asked for an update of how it went, so here it is...

And boy i am happy i took that lesson, i took a basics MX lesson with a certified trainer well known in the area here & he helped me out alot, i went from a slow & bad 1st lap to a faster & better 2nd lap with just some quick tips & decent explenation.

Yesterday i went on a new track day without a trainer, just by myself & took all the things he said with me & trained on those certain points, Man i went faster & faster each lap & by the end of the day i even took very small jumps!

Deep muddy corners still throw me offguard & cause me too fall once or twice, but that will be allright in the future for sure.

To anyone who is thinking about getting lessons when things aren't going allright for you. JUST DO IT!

Thanks all!

When you what the races, AMA riders still have fits in muddy corners.

Nice...that's great news! The better you get the more fun you have....but you don't have to be good to have fun.

He told me to clear my mind & not focus too much on all the small details, he told me to just ride the bike & put my focus on the cornering technique (i told him beforehand my cornering was very shocky), just ride my laps, as many as i could & everything will come by itself, whenever i didn't feel ready for something, i didn't have to do it & just tell him about it.

He told me that its normal as a beginner to feel very sketchy on a bike, you get swinged from side to side & front to forward, but time on the bike will fix most of this & i don't have to focus on that.

He really "pushed" me in riding my laps & not giving up & that helped me ALOT.

it was great, yesterday was even more great, riding alone, focusing on everything he said & a first small table top jump really made me feel alive, theres still lots of work to be done & i'm still very slow. but speed will come.

That's awesome to hear. I think proper coaching is one of the best things you can spend money on!

Sounds like a great coach teaching you the right things. Don't feel any pressure to go fast right away, focus on your technique and put in laps and the speed and comfort will slowly come.

Completely agree with your last statement, because when your new to something you are learning it fast, and its at this time habits develop, good or bad. So if you have proper training early and focus on the fundamentals of body position, control and technique from day one it will pay off huge later on.

The quickest way for me to get faster was to ride with faster guys. You’ll see huge gains if you have a riding buddy that’s on it.

Once your planted in fundamentals chasing guys faster and race battles knocks your intensity way up.

i'm not planning to race in the near future, i want to get all of my fundamentals straight before diving into a race with alot of riders along side me, i don't want to be a danger to myself nor them, i'll try a race in the hobby class when i feel ready

Good training is a little rare, but fantastic when you can find it.

It’s been a revelation with my MTB riding.

I know where your coming from. Getting into the sport late it’s a really good feeling to feel progression. I rode for maybe a year or two just piddling around hitting all the jumps and then kinda ran out of money and got out of it, but got back into it in fall of 2018, started racing and just last weekend I raced my first B race at the high point Gncc. My view on racing and other riders is that no body on the track is better than me, they just have more experience and have been riding longer and if I had their same amount of seat time I would be just as good if not better.
