So many good woods bikes out there, thumper, smoker, small bore and large bore. Really depends what you prefer abd what you ride.

Every bike I've ever had was good at going fast. Almost none were good at going slow, when the situation called for it. I've not tried the YZ-FX, but can say the YZ-X is great at the slow stuff. I personally prefer the 3-4-5 gear stuff, but you have to get through the slow stuff to get to it.

I mention the hard enduro series simply as an example of where a 2 stroke can shine. I haven't watched that much of it, but it sure seems like the KTM & Husky 300s rule. And I'm sure these riders have a choice between 2 or 4 stroke - and they know what they're doing way more than I do on bike choice.

There are reasons they all use a 2-stroke - and I'm guessing it has to be for the slow stuff.

You should be able to find the Honda. I have seen a couple in Indianapolis and the Honda warehouse probably has them too. You have to ride the Honda a little like a 125 but the 2020 is supposed to have more grunt than my 2019. The FX is pretty popular. I haven’t seen any 2020 at a dealer that didn’t sell in less than a week. Personally I won’t own one for trails because the front intake can suck water. To me the yz 2 strokes have a better air box design for wet trails. You might keep your eyes open for a 250 (2t or 4t) husky/ktm. I have seen a few leftover 2019s with pricing similar to the 250fx.
I found a honda dealer today with one in stock, they said the otd price is $9600.... I dont want that. the yamaha dealer doesnt charge any fees or add ons, they said if they have any yz250x's left i can get it for better than MSRP out the door.. im tempted to go for it, but thats basically because they say they have no word on any fx's coming in.

If you can wait I paid $7k otd for a left over 2019 250rx In January although the way things are going there may not be any leftovers when the weather turns cold.

I’ve owned both. Was a die hard 2 stroke guy but fell in love with the FX. After 2 of them I decided to try the X- just never felt as comfortable on it as I did the FX. After 10 months I went back to FX’s and couldn’t be happier.

I feel safer on water crossings with the front intake because it's so High.
