I know there was talk of her being able to qualify for a national. Did her lap times show that? She looked good out there.

her lap times were around 35 seconds a lap slower then the top guys. she is very fast, but no where near qualifying for a national.

Let's keep in mind, no one, and I mean NO ONE, was considering her attempting to do that this year or maybe even next year.

Ashley gets faster and faster each year and I think anyone who knows her and has watched her realizes she has not hit her peak yet.

No one has claimed her goal is to compete for a title, but for the time being her goal is to qualify.

Give her time, and I do think she will qualify for a Men's National

She has told me personally that she will attempt to qualify. She has not put a date on this, however, I am sure it will be under the Honda Tent.

Rude Pea, weighs about 90 pounds, she is so little...She is so young. When the 18 year old rule rolls around, I feel that will be when she hits her stride, and qualifies in the top ten... against the men.

I spent the better part of the day in the Mechanics area...talk about over rev'n a bike...She squeezed every bit of HP out of that CRF !

20 seconds. give her time to grow im sure she could qualify. definitely not remotely close to winning. but it would be an awesome to see a girl make it! just dont know if she could hold the pace for 30 plus 2... yikes!

Also note, that the women, had less than 1/4 the time on the track, as the rest.

Practice was way short, race time was really, really, short. Give them equal time, and I guarantee a much closer timed lap.

Qualifying was 2:52... shes 6 seconds off the pace of qualifying right now (although that was her best time, her qualifying best lap was 3:05.5).

And..that was on probably the roughest, gnarliest tracks, and not to mention they got their practice cut short.

It will be interesting to keep watching the low qualifier times and how Ashley or any of the chicks matches up on that particular event.

Slow pro.... Most arent going to get it. Ashley will raise the bar for womens MX. For her to be at the level she's at on a dirt bike for a male or female is amazing, and the fact thats she's as tiny and young as she is makes it even more amazing. For any male that doesnt get that can you say "Little dick syndrome"

I would love to see Ashley qualify for a national... but honestly, and I am married to a feminist, I don't think it could happen. 20 seconds off the fast lap? Sure, she is only 6 out of qualifying, but think about it, they qualify on a smooth track. That track doesn't exist when the first motos roll off. There is a HUGE strength difference and I don't think it could be overcome.

I would love to see women able to qualify for a nat, but I doubt we will see it. Count out 6 seconds. That's a long time on a fast track.

Ditto what Slo-Pro said. This is the first time I have seen the women ride live and they were flying. I was very impressed with their speed.

Qualify on a smooth track? Not at Glen Helen they didn't. The ladies practiced AFTER the men. After 8 sessions of practice, the track was anything but smooth when they took their turn.

Ashley looked extremely fast, and she's certainly confident. She's fun to watch! Very flashy style. I have no doubt that she'll be able to make the men's field one day... now, running that pace for 30+2 is a different story, but I think if she trained for it she could do it.

I should have said "relatively" smooth. Smile

I'm rooting for Ashley though. She can still find more speed but it will be tough.

Her and JP ran just at 3:00 laps (Jp actually dipped into 2:59 on her last lap). That was about about 25 seconds a lap slower than Dungey and about 10 secs off the slower guys in the pack. Give her and Price a couple years and I think they will qualify.

She is extremely small...I would guess 90 pounds or less. I stood next to her for awhile as we translated...I can't believe she can go that fast.

Put it this way, she is absolutely, the fastest in her weight class...Men, or Women !

She looked looked pretty fast for a tiny girl.

In moto 1 I was surprised whe wasn't hitting the the Monster double jump in the REM section of the track. Moto 2 whe was clearing it every lap.

Heres the most promising sign Ive ever seen for the chicks. Both taken from their first races in Spain. Few things to bear in mind, laptimes in GPs are shorter, this was hardpack so times are closer and track gets slower as the day goes on but not by a lot. Steffi was just 9.5 seconds off 3rd placed Philippaerts. It would obviously be different on a rough and longer track like Glen Helen but less than 10 seconds off the men on any track, thats unreal! Chicks are definateley getting quicker.

I don't get the comparisons with Dungy's lap times? We are talking about qualifying, not winning.
If she is only 6 seconds off, isn't it conceivable that she make that up just by being in a more challenging group?

I really think Ashley is good for the sport and wish her all the best, but I have heard so many different lap time variations that I really can't say I believe any of them. I personally don't think she is anywhere close to being able to qualify for a program but it seems that who ever is handling her is convincing others that she can and is also keeping her in the spotlight. (good job who ever you are)

Like I said I hope the best for the beautiful young lady but it's getting to a point to where I am getting tired of all the hype.

The postions she is in will help give props to the WMXers and this is were she should stay. Its a heck of alot funner being on the box every week and getting 1st place checks and magazine covers than coming in 38th place everyweek and nobody giving a crap. Ashley I hope you get as fast as RC someday. Someday.

In this hypothetical question, is the seventeen year old young man the fastest male in the USA ?
