As said above, the guy with the pirate legs was clearly the brains of the band of misfits.

What I wonder about is if the recordings were all burnt up in the fire, how did they make all this? Maybe I missed where it was explained in the show.

This was like a documentary of the documentary.

I think once the video producer realized all of the TV deals were not going to pan out, and then with him and Joe having a falling out, that the producer was the one who blew up the studio.

It seemed to me that given the part where Joe goes to his attorney and is told that the producer owns Joe, in regards to the taped footage, that Joe had the place torched.

Joe burnt that place down. I'm sure there was some seriously incriminating evidence on those drives. No way the producer burnt up 5 years worth of work for any reason.

Crazy that he didn't have anything backed up and stored not in that building. He saw every day how shady those guys were.

Between Ronnie Mac and Joe Exotic, I’m not sure what to think about Oklahoma. It seems to breed some rare although entertaining characters.

Rick Kirkham was funding this basically out of his own pocket, and I'm sure he didn't have the budget to mirror all the media. I can only imagine how many hours of stuff there was. Two, sometimes three cameras rolling at the same time for 10-14 hours a day. Who knows what went on at night. Laughing

Peely, he lived and worked on the property and that was technically his studio as well, so of course he kept his stuff there. But when Joe flipped out about the fact that Rick owned the footage, I would have loaded that shit up and drove away that day.

The TV deals fell through before the studio burned down. That footage became essentially useless to the producer at that point.

I think a case could be made for each one having a motive to blow it up.

But yeah so strange to have no backups. I mean even some external drives can store massive amounts of data at low cost. No one thought it might be a good idea to have a copy somewhere??

Nobody knows what he could have done with it, but unless there was an insurance policy covering lost footage, I promise you Rick didn't burn his own shit.

Storage space when he was doing his deal was not even remotely cheap. Shit, we have to keep a copy of our dailies in three different places, then back up to LTO as well. It is still not cheap.

David Spade has been interviewing all the characters from the show. The interviews have been posted on Spade's Instagram account. The most recent interview was with Kirkman, Kirkman said he had backups to his harddrives in a safe in the studio. The fire was so hot it melted the safe and all contents. Kirkman told a few more stories in the Spade interview, that didn't make the show. Some crazy stuff went down! Maybe someone can link the Spade interview to here. Good stuff

Just watched all the Spade shows with cast members. Adds quite a bit to the series info. Check them out.

Joe graduated from Pilot Point high school. That’s just down the road from us. I also read he was chief of police in the mid 80s for a small town in Texas. He owned a pet store in Arlington.

I’m not a fan of reality tv either, and while Tiger King does seem to start out as a reality show, it somehow transitions to more of a documentary as it goes on.
