To be honest I was a little let down by Alessi. I expected him to be able to win with a lead like that.

Why don't you just shut your whore mouth? Alessi probably got a little tired and Villo wore him down. It's a long season and Alessi showed that he has the speed and maturity to win this thing. He was totally cool in hios podium interview as well.

to be honest i don't remember him ever passing anybody in a long time. seems he always finishes 1 - 10 places behind where he starts.

And you could do better, Mr. "I'm an astute observer of the universe"? What's your number, maybe Roger will be giving you a call?

I agree. RV and Alessi were both flying. Good starts and good finishes. I wish Alessi wouldn't have crashed on the 2nd lap of moto 1. This is going to be a good series this year. Can't wait till they get to Texas.

He got stuck in a rut, not a crash.

What is a dunn2500? Is that like your username on gays'r'us? How is second place blowing it (I note that you used a gay reference in your post)? You are gay and I can prove it: Gays like to use a bunch of ellipses. I totally bet that if dictionaries renamed "gay" its new name would be "dunn2500". You are a homosexual gay person.

Alessi was putting down the lap times consistent with his finish.

Villo was faster, no one else was.

Being a great starter and 2nd fastest leaves him second with a great shot at being first.

Villo being an inconsistent starter with great speed and hang it out style won him todays race.

its a great series to watch if this all holds up.

Yeah he did do very well, but Lawrence wasn't there, Windham wasn't there, Stewart wasn't there. If he podiums with those guys out there, that will be impressive.

What I got out of this is if RV is 10th or better his chances of beating Mike if he gets the hole shot is pretty good. I hope Mike does not use the wait and see what happens approach because it does not work. All he needs to do is ask Kdub and Reed. Kdub made a career out of that strategy and if you look at the record books it never worked.

Mike better beat RV next week because if he can't then RV and Mike know what the outcomes of the races will be like.

They both rode great, but I remember a quote from Alessi in TGO after the '06 season when he lost the title to Villo: "Ryan was always on the gas and was willing to hang it out and take chances, and maybe that's what I should have done, too." Yep. Villo takes big risks and gets a couple of seconds per lap in reward. Alessi is going to have to risk crashing, too. He has a huge advantage in getting great starts every moto, but he's going to have to take a few more chances. He's going to have a tough time winning a title while staying inside his comfort zone - and if he wants confirmation of that, there's a guy in his own pit that can tell him that comfort zone racing rarely wins titles.

I guess you don't remember when he was the only one that could stay any where near JS and RC for third behind the two fastest MX riders in the world.

can't knock Alessi to much. he does get the start everytime. he just didn't have it for RV. who cares. this is a long season and he will get a few wins. maybe his best chance was at GH. Looks like we will have a great season to watch!! How about Grant not to bad plus that Reed guy will get stronger after a gew races!!

I was pretty impressed at Mike's initial pace, especially the first several laps of that second moto. He was going pretty fast and exploding the berms. Hated to see him lose it like that after looking so strong.

Did Alessi say whether he had sprinted too hard, too soon and was just out of gas ... or maybe if he should have paced himself more? Still an impressive ride for Mikey and very impressive holeshots.

Putting MA in front of RV in a duel for 1st place is probably worth an extra second per lap for RV than if it was anyone else in front of him. Lesson to all you upcoming amateurs ... careful who you mess with in the amateur ranks, it may come back to haunt you. lol

How many of you did a double take seeing #3 Brownie right up there on the starts?

I was jazzed to see Brownie up there. He's a great guy, I'd love to see him get on the podium and show those youngsters how it's done. In '06 at Lakewood, we saw him in the pits (working on his own bike), and he stopped and talked to us for a long time. Super friendly and down to earth guy.
