Im collecting parts for my twinshock before i start the overhaul.
Here in Sweden you are not allowed to change diameter of the forks, so to be "legal" im stuck with 37mm.
It is legal to change the damping system inside, like Race Tech cartridge emulator, but i cant find for my forks?
Does anyone know some tricks? Or have tried the drilling described in the article in this thread?

XR500 or 250? have 37mm forks and there is emulators for those, but they are 2" shorter if i remember right?

Ouch! The worst part about those forks isn’t the action, it’s the flex. You can be plowing through some rough shit with the bars at full lock and still be going the other way.Shocked

You really can’t even switch to a set of say, Simons? 38mm? I believe the tubes are stouter. And they were a popular aftermarket offering at the time.

If you're limited to using the same diameter forks, maybe use a fork brace?
Obviously no good in a muddy environment, but otherwise it seems like a helpful band-aid.

I can use aftermarket forks if you could buy them in 1980, like Fox and simons, but its very rare to se them for sale.
I can also use forks from another bike in same class, like YZ250/465 -81, RM -80, Husky -83, but i dont know if they are better?
Husky 40mm is probably more rigid and pretty common here.

For rear i just got a pair Fox air shox and I have ohlins also

Well then it sounds like you have plenty of options. First one that I would think of would be a front end off of a 1981 YZ250/465 with 43mm diameter forks and a dual actuated front brake. Probably would not be hard to put the whole thing on or if the triples and stem posed to be too much of a fit issue just grab a set of billet triples from VMX or Stevie Denton.

That is an option, should not be to hard to find.
I dont know anything about YZ forks, is it possible to adapt them to cartridge like Honda 83/87?
Or maby they are good as is?

I rebuilt a set on a 81 YZ465 about 10 years ago and for the life of me can't remember what the heck the internals looked like.

79 CR125. That one has some really trick machined brackets and hardware to mount it without modifying the front of the tank or fabbing up new brackets. You do have to swap the petcock from one side to the other.

Race Tech Emulators are pretty much a drop in product without the headaches of trying to figure out how to get it all working.

Doesn't Roland Solva have cartridge internals he can retrofit to earlier forks? Thought he was doing that work.

Is that an AR-10 platform on the bipod suppressed Mr. Newman? Subsonic only?
