Question: top triple clamp 81 YZ465

I’ve got an 81 Yz465 and the top triple clamp bar mounts are angled back. My riding style doesn’t favor the swept back handlebar position. Id like to replace the top clamp with bar mounts that don’t sweep back but go as straight up as possible.

Does anyone know what year and or models if 43mm forks this might be so I can limit my searches correctly?

I believe a 83/84 yz 250 or anything with a 43mm will work.

I think so but it was a while since I did mine, I remember I had to use the 465 stem and you cant slide the fork tube up much anymore. It is a worthwhile swap.

I'm pretty sure I have one that will work for you. I'll look thru my YZ parts in the shop this weekend and I'll PM you if I find it.

You need to do the top and bottom because the later models are maybe 3mm narrower, at least my clamps are.You cant see it until you try to slide the forks in and they won't go into the top clamp.

you are looking for the triple clamps that have bolted/rubber bushing type upper clamps. The '82 - 83 YZ or IT will work as long as the fork diameter is compatible with the clamps. The 82 YZ are 43mm, the IT MIGHT be 38mm. Also keep in mind other models like a TT or XT 500.
FWIW, I have a '79 YZ250 (angled-back type bar clamps) that I changed to the noted triple clamp setup with 43mm forks from a '82 YZ 250.

Sorry, as I was looking thru my Yamaha bins, my buddy reminded me that I gave those to another friend of ours last Spring,lol. Although a quick eBay search showed at least 4 sets of what you're looking for, and are priced at 20-25. Sorry again, good luck

IT200 43mm clamps are a good fit but solid mount. Nice upright set-up.

If its rubber mount, turn them upside down !
