I’ve seen in a couple places that Honda is upping their support program but can’t find it on Honda site, anyone else have any info?

How do these "average riders" (obviously total badasses, average compared to other pros) pay their bills?

Well they don't. Making the 450 main get you 2000 plus your contingency so Blose has made 10,780 between payouts and Honda contingency. Not sure if any/all of that goes to the team. Making the night show in 450 get you at least 1070.00

If you can constistantly make mains and have some support (Bike, Gear some parts etc0 you can keep losses to a minimum or maybe break even. You don't get into racing to make money

The people that run the shows are in it to make money. Shame the circus animals don’t get fed well..with exception of the lions and tigers.

Keefer's article was just based off of MFG contingency. I would like to see one done including both Contingency and Purse money.

That was where the 10,780 number came from. Bowers didn't race in St Louis but has made 8910.00 in 3 races purse plus contingency

Well it’s interesting what all the pros get, but MOST of us are amateurs!
That’s the comparison I’m interested in!

Also, guys at a Bowers level can command some gear salary as well as performance based contingency from other sponsors (boots, helmet, goggles). So their final take home is more than just Feld purse and manufacturer contingency.

Finding sponsors or a team that can cover costs goes a long way too. If you don’t have any out of pocket expenses like travel, entry, mechanics and you’re making some 450 mains here and there the money isn’t horrible.

Still not where it could be and should be of course

Here's some perspective...

Let's say you do all 17 rounds in the 450 class and score 22nd everytime.

The OEM's contingency won't even sum up to the MSRP of a new bike. Kawasaki comes the closest at ~$8500

I believe the details will be in a RacerX magazine article, which is the absolute worse way to announce something.
