I did finally get the chance to get the clutch put in last night it's been a crazy holiday week here..
I see most staying on stock 13/50, and some going up to 13/51, but Keefer says 13/49 is a good setup to be able to get into 3rd faster. His is the first note I've seen going down a tooth.
Went out to Cahuilla Creek with some buddies yesterday and was definitely impressed with this '19 KX450. My last KX450 was a '12, and I was worried I was buying a similar bike. After being on 2 strokes only for the last several years, it took a bit to get used to the engine braking again! First thoughts were how nimble and maneuverable it felt. It felt light and quick, not what I remember of my '12. It felt easier to lay into a rut with confidence and on flat sweepers, I felt extremely confident and that's not typical for me as I usually prefer finding a rut or berm to corner from. The power was good, but I can see how some may want more, or maybe want to add a tooth to the rear, although it wasn't slow by any means. Mind you, I'm coming off of a KX500 most recently. And if you're wondering, I'm using the green chip, with the stock map and a PC system that was on the bike when I bought it. The button is nice, although I did catch myself reaching down for the kickstarter a couple of times and my friends got a good laugh out of it! Suspension wise, I added 20cc's of 10W, cranked down on the shock spring preload and went in on the clickers a fair bit from stock, something like 9 clicks in on compression and 4 clicks in on rebound. Being 6'2" 248lbs vet expert, well maybe not quite after all the Xmas grub, I was surprised at how well the suspension held up for me. The only time I bottomed out was when I jumped the triple step down on the main. I landed it right in the sweet spot, but the forks blew right through the stroke. That's to be expected though at my size, with stock springs. One thing that drove me nuts was the rear brake being incredibly touchy and not being able to adjust the pedal down or add any free play into it. Probably going to look into cutting the threads down a bit to allow for the pedal adjust further down. A friend mentioned going back to the smaller rear rotor and hanger set up from previous years, so I may look into that. I did notice some clutch noise that some of you had mentioned, and I have Hinson plates, fibers and springs on order to hopefully remedy that? Like I read, have any of you tried adding extra oil? 100cc's? Otherwise, I definitely liked the hydro clutch and had no issues with stalling it. Also, I loved the feel of the slim levers and was surprised at how well the front brake worked, as my '12 was scary at first and I ended up with an over-sized front rotor immediately. Overall, I'm stoked on the purchase and look forward to dialing in the suspension and playing around with some mapping. Anyhow, thanks to all of you who have kept this thread going with a wealth of good info! Cheers and Happy New Year!
Also, since this thing came with a PC system on it, I was thinking of doing a throwback PC graphics kit, and thought I might even go with Flo-Green plastics, but I'm not seeing anything from Acerbis, UFO or Cycra for the 2019 KX450? Any help is much appreciated!
Night and day!! If given the choice, I'd pick a '19 over the '12 all day. Can't wait to get the suspension, rear brake, and possible gearing/mapping sorted out so I can see how much more flickable this thing is!

P..S. I'm vetxer175 on Proride. :-)
Right on, I'll probably try modifying the master cylinder bolt first to allow for lowering the pedal first. Then I'll try the hanger + smaller rotor mod second! Thanks.

With all that being said, my 2019 is a much better bike in so many ways. Its much more nimble, corners better and it has better brakes. The only thing I really miss about my 2013 is the power. That bike was a rocket lol. On the plus side, with the 2019 not being as abrupt, it doesnt wear me out as quick.
