2020 Crf250r. Anyone seen this before?

Removing my stock pipes today to install a yoshi. Right side pipe came off and went on fine. Left side header when loosening the two header bolts the one just threaded out of the motor. The stud is bent and bolt appears cross threaded possibly. Not a big deal as I just need a new stud and thankfully it just came out of the motor clean. Just figured I’d share.

I had a 2011 Crf450R and experienced the same thing when installing a pro circuit exhaust. When I went to torque those nuts it bent the studs exactly like that. Pro Circuit said I was over tightening those nuts, but I never even got them close to the manufacturer torque setting. They bought the exhaust back and I switched to FMF and never had that issue again.

I had a 2011 Crf450R and experienced the same thing when installing a pro circuit exhaust. When I went to torque those nuts it bent the studs exactly like that. This was from the factory. I hadn’t touched the stock system and when I went to take off the nut to remove the header the whole stud came out.

I’m currently waiting for new stud bolts to arrive. I have the exact same problem on the left side. Both stud bolts were bent and removing the stock header was a bitch! Luckily both studs came out without any damage to the head.

The new one stud bolt (only one was bent) after some time was bent again on 2018 CRF250R not so badly as it was before when couldnt slide bracket off. Now with some force is possible to remove header without damaging bolt

So it’s not extremely uncommon. I wonder what causes it or how that happens.

Maybe bracket change form when heated up and bend bolt?

I have 2 crf250r 2020s and both were a problem getting the left side header bracket off. The first came off but needed enough force that I was afraid the bracket was going to strip the threads coming off. The second bike ended up with two bent studs that I have now replaced.

Maybe have to drill bigger holes in bracket? I don't see anything als could damage stud bolt

I just bought an exhaust it sounds like I should go ahead and order studs too. I did look after reading this post and it does appear that my 2020 studs are slightly bent. Mine appears to be all four..... 6 hours on the bike so far.

If it was my exhaust, I would elongate the holes in the header mount and red loctite the stud to head threads. Then neverseize the nut threads. That SHOULD be the cure all in a perfect world.

same deal happened on my '18. Left side bolt came out clean but was bent awkwardly in that same way. ordered new studs for all of them just as a precaution, and havent had an issue since.

The yoshi brackets went on much easier. It seems the holes are slightly larger. I did use red loctite on the new studs.

Yoshi went on a lot easier. The bike are definitely a little bigger.
