Wow, thats risky. Im pullin for him but I'll be very surprised if he finishes better than 6th in either moto.

I believe he does too but it just seems like alot to ask of a kid at his first pro event when lined up with Dungey, Stroupe, Pourcell and the others who have been at this a year or two. A buddy of mine who watched him ride at MTF alot says he is ridiculous fast too. I hope he does kill it.

I'm voting Barcia....I'v watched this kid grow so much the last cpl of yr's it's increditable..He has matured in to a fine young man with great skills on a dirt scooter...I think him and his family would be over joyed with a top ten his 1st time out..anything better (and i think he's cappable of bettter) would be iceing on the cake..Bill

My husband and son were at Glen Helen today and my hubby said Weston Pieick looks awesome.

He is a fine young man....they all are.

My worry is he's waaay tooo excited.

Hope they can tell him to pace himself. Speed ain't gonna be the issue.

AMA714: James Stewart finished second in his first-ever AMA Supercross, then won his second SX as a pro. He also won the first national he ever entered (GH '02), but he had an SX season behind him.

Marty Tripes was 16 years, 8 days old when he won the first Superbowl of MX, which was legally his first race in 1972. He had been DQ'd from an Inter-Am a few weeks before for being too young.

I believe in 1989, Stefan Everts finished third in the first GP he entered, at age 15, but maybe MXGeoff or Doc Sweden would know better!

From the few times I saw Barcia last year, I'm thinking he will have no problems this year. He lives/lived at MTF, so you know the fitness will be there. He has the speed and it will boil down to starts and a little luck here and there, just like it will for 8-10 other "fast" cats!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a win, or at least a podium at GH.

Anstie on the other hand will most likely not do as well. Saw him at LL last year and didn't seem that impressive, but that was last year. Again, starts and luck, but I'd be surprised as hell if he was top 10.

i think it will be played by the mental control, who got the better atitude will be up front.....
it is easy to say that they are very fast and can do winnig lap times, even in trainning it can show....but it is a hell lot diferent wen you get up to the start and feel the competition, there will be very experienced racers in that, some with titles already.....it will not be easy for the kids to be in a mental hype that allows then to get the good start and to put in the 30 plus 2 at the top of their game........every yard of the track....!!!!!
still i am with barcia, i think he is ahead of anstie and in a better team with lots of people that can advise him to the good stuff, and if anstie is really going to the j-law tent, he will have even more to worry about then the race itself.........

Not only will he do waay better Anstie, Barcia is my darkhorse for the title this year! Kid is CRAZY fast with a little KDub style to him.

For me they're both really solid & very very impressive to date.
Adjusting to the hype, pressure, & inside & outside influences
is the bigger issue. All that adds up to how they'll roll.
I'm sure the fitness is there.
They both have what it takes.
They've both worked hard to arrive.
Again, it's the off the bike stuff that's many times the bigger deal
over the long haul, or in this case the Outdoor series.
Believe me, anything can happen, & it usually does.
I pull for rookies anyway, so I wish 'em well.

I dont know if there are two Ansties but the one that raced Lakewood last week for the LL qualifer got beat by several locals in all three classes and if anyone says he is top 5 or even top 10 at GH must be crazy. http://www.srac.org/raceresults.cfm
