I would say the title is Webb's to lose. He's the defending champ.

This thread is about Supercross, not about their entire career. He's not the best SX rider. If he was, he'd have clinched a title by now.

He's done great. No doubt about that, but he's still chasing the most important title on US soil. A 450 SX championship.

Can he get it done in 2020? I don't know, but it's going to be fun to watch, and I'm looking forward to it.

Just hope everyone comes in healthy. 18 more days...

If that’s the case, I guess Reed is currently the best SX racer since he has 2 championships. Well, that’s simply not true unless the only thing you count as making the best racer to be their number of Championships.

Championship standing from the past 5 years:

Anderson: 7, 3, 4, 1, 23
Tomac: 2, 4, 2, 3, 2

450 SX wins:

Anderson: 7
Tomac: 27

I didnt forget anything. Marv n tomac both came in injured. Everything went webbs way. Even making a pass while out of control and cutting the track in the process. Not so sure it will all fall his way this year.

Outdoors where was he? Only race he did well was that mudder where he was able to block the only dry line. Same as he does in sx. Grab a start and block. Outdoors where theres more time and space to pass he cant do the holeshot and block as well and got smoked.
Defending champion is nothing to make fun of. I didn't figure you to be a mouth breathing dork, oh well.

I think he is gonna be riding very nervous this year! Like Anderson last year.

When you win a Championship and it surprises yourself that you won, defending it will be hard.

This SX review stated it well, NOBODY expected Webb to win it (because how bad he was for 2 years on the Yamaha), he had some dinged up competition.

I think he will finish 4th or 5th!

Mouth breathing dork lol. Webb was consistent, not discrediting that. That might be enough to do it again but in my opinion as i said his speed is a tick off the top guys like eli, kenny, marv, anderson.

Pretty sure they get paid either way. If you want to talk about who currently has made the most money from contracts and winning in SX, I’d beg to differ it being Anderson or Webb.

I agree Eli got Tomacked!

But last years SX Championship was a long time ago, like I said he was Surprised he won. Webb is human he will be nervous.

AC on the other hand is now thinking he is the man to beat, if he wins this year, look out AC will be around for a long time!

I’d say money well spent. He is after all the most successful racer of the current era. Since contracts cover indoors and out, he’s gotten his employer 3 times the championships of Webb or Anderson.

Webb is one of the best racers there is right now. How often did he crash in a main last year? Once? How many text book passes did he put on tomac, roczen, musquin? Seemed like just about every race webb would make incredible passes. You guys are forgetting how great of a racer webb is

No one is forgetting!

How did he do Outdoors?

What place did he finish at the MEC?

In “guessing” who is hot, right now, these things would have to be a factor in that discussion. Not just that he has a number 1 on his bike from last year!

Why do people on here keep confusing "best" with "fastest"?

Sure Eli might be the fastest rider a lot of the time but that does not make him the best. The one who wins the championship is ultimately the best, and he hasn't done that. He's had plenty opportunity, he hasn't been injured much.

I don't get why this is so hard for some or you.

Normally id agree. The reason i dont in this specific case is because of the current top few guys, eli has won way more races. Hes literally an all time winner and a 3x back to back to back mx champ. Everyone knows that mx title is gnarlier than sx.

Like yes webb won 2019 sx and anderson won 2018. Ill still never ever say those two guys are higher caliber riders than eli or even kenny. Theyre just not - yet.

This is true. Different attitude and mindset will be required for Webb this year.
As they said in the show, the first few races will be critical for Webb to build that confidence.
If he nails the starts every week like he did last year there won’t be too many issue.
Tomac needs to sort that out to have a shot, I hope he gets it done this year and gets his 4th 450 outdoor title

I’ll take the guy with the number 1 plate on his bike.

MotoMo165 finally made the point. Webb never goes down. I’m sure he can twist the throttle and crash out like Eli and Marv but those guys are 2nd place experts.

As far as this repeat topic goes, Eli who I really like didn’t even defend his 250 title. Webb had a vapor lock DNF in 2016 and broken wrist in Vegas and still pulled it off. He has come in first in 50% of his supercross seasons and he is really young still. Figure it out...

Steve, love what you do for the sport man, but don't be so friggin' awkward while either one of the Jason's is talking.

Just turn your head slightly their way and occasionally nod when they're making a point or finishing a sentence.

The double facepalm over Eli did have me rolling though!

I have to say I really like what Keefer is bringing to these shows with the technical info. As long as he can keep finding little pearls l(ike the KTM frame reinforcement), I think that makes it more interesting for more serious fans. Very cool.

Let's see....It took Tomac until his 4th try to win a 450 outdoor title. He will be in his 7th year in Supercross and still hasn't gotten it done.

Webb in his 3rd year has already won a Supercross title.

Three years in, Tomac had like 4 SX wins and 3 outdoor wins total? Webb has a SX title, 7 wins and an outdoor win.

*NEWSFLASH* It's a discussion on the 2020 Supercross season preview show, not the "Ya but Eli wins outdoor Championships preview show".
