MARVIN MUSQUIN TO MISS 2020 AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP WITH INJURY

Marvin Musquin underwent surgery this week to repair his left knee and will miss the 2020 AMA Supercross Championship.

MURRIETA, Calif. – The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team regretfully announces that Marvin Musquin has sustained a leg injury that required surgery and he will miss the entire 2020 AMA Supercross Championship.

Musquin injured his knee when he cased a jump at KTM’s test track facility in Corona, California while preparing for the upcoming Supercross season. He returned to France this week and successfully underwent surgery to repair his left knee and will now concentrate on intense therapy to properly heal over the next few months.

Musquin: “It's tough to share this disappointing news. I was really happy to be back on the bike riding after being injured at the end of the Motocross season and starting to train for Supercross. Unfortunately, I had an incident at the KTM test track and ultimately over-jumped a jump that had a very big impact on my legs when I landed, injuring my left knee. I had it evaluated by several doctors and it was determined that my knee required surgery. It’s devastating news to me as I was really looking forward to racing Supercross, but I will take the time needed to recover properly with my main focus being to return when I am strong enough to win races.”

Red Bull KTM Team Manager, Ian Harrison: “We want Marvin to take the time he needs to fully recover. He is a big part of our program and we have a good working relationship so we understand how disappointing this is for him and the whole team. We are here to support him and look forward to him making a return to racing when he is 100% ready.”

The entire Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team wishes him a speedy recovery.

Ffs that sucks. I feel so bad for Marvin, injuries has been so harsh on him through the years.

Damn. The thinning of the heard is already in full swing.
Do you think KTM will bring Tickle Back? Reed for first few rounds maybe?

That's some crappy news. Pretty much writes him off for ever getting a SX title. Just don't see a guy winning his first at 31after missing a season. At least 3 wins just opened up on the 2020 schedule, who is going to take them?

I thought 2020 was going to be his year. Sadly, now I don't think it's ever going to happen.

If it's the same knee as earlier this year, he should've had it fixed this summer.

Yeah, let them sign a guy that didn't do anything with that program to begin with and broke his contract by testing positive. Use your brain dude. He can't even ride until Tampa anyways. In what world would that be a good strategy?

I don’t understand this line of thinking. The top 10 dudes have all worked hard enough to ”deserve” a title, but you still gotta execute on race day. Marv hasn’t quite mastered that yet.

I do hope he heals up right

Yeah, that's why he's always been in the title chase.

Sorry, I should have said “execute on race day every weekend” . Better?

You could say the same for everyone else out there who hasn't grabbed that title.

No such thing as deserving a title. Racing is a meritocracy, you earn it or you don't get one.

Does Eli deserve a title because he is like 7th on the all time wins list? Nope, gotta earn it.

Since 2017

50 SX races. Average finish = 4.1

32 podiums w/ 8 wins.

I'd say he's doing a great job at executing on race day every weekend.

Not to the point of winning a title, obviously
