It seems that all the pro nationals are always either in the West or are pretty far North. Why isn't there a pro nation in the South or the Southeast at a track like Monster Mountain MX?

Any input?

Yeah> they should look at Monster Mountain in AL. It is only like 15-20 min. from Alburn. This is pretty much the best track in the south. I've raced at the GH and Budds Creek nationals and Monster Mt. is just as good. You would be able to see the whole track and shit that one track builder live right there, what's he name Mark Barnett? one of the best in the world!!

Why not spread out the pro nationals more when there is a track just as good if not better.

Monster won't happen because of the narrow roads leading to it. Too small for the semis, so I've heard.

I've heard they are building a MX track at Barber Motorsports Park. If they do and it is anything like their roadrace course it will be a great site for a National.

Georgia

I hear the track is on hold because the owner is worried about the economy.

Yeah, My dad and I were just talking about that. We went by there after the Atlanta SX and I've heard it probably won't start for another couple years. Hopefully it will work, cause they sure as hell won't half-ass do it.

Yep, Barber Motorsports Park. Here's hoping they get a national for 2011. It sounds like 2010 is a stretch. I wouldn't doubt seeing an MX GP there as well.

Bummer is, we won't get to ride on it.

what is the average attendance to an outdoor national?

atlanta sx has one of the biggest crowds out of all the races, one would think that a pro national in the general area would bring the same crowd. i would go.

Buuds Creek looks like the closest for me right now.

Buds & High Point - 6 hrs & Steel city is about 7 hours from us.

Would love a Nat in the South East.

we need one in my opinion. there are a lot of 'conditions' that need to be met to have one though from what ive heard/read. cant be too close to a town/city, but has to have enough lodging for everyone, airport has to be close, road has to be big enough for haulers, etc.

basically we need 500 acres of forest with a track in the middle, fed by a 4 lane highway that is 45 minutes from a major city with an airport.

hmmmm

I'd guess 12,000 to 20,000 is closer. IMO

Shouldn't complain about that distance and I am not saying it was a complaint. I live (by motorhome) 6 hrs from Millville, 9 hours from Red Bud, and 13(or more) hours from Freestone, Steel City, High Point and Lakewood.
Centrally located, I would say!Wink

I actually agree. 40,000 is a very optimistic number.

yeah...it's about 20k average I think.

I wish they would rotate the nationals through atleast 16 or so tracks. I know that's not the deal for the owners right now, but I think it would improve the overall attendance and interest in the sport.

I would be shocked to see 40k people there. high 20's to mid 30's for sure. But the heat and lack of comfort would keep many from coming.

I'd calculate both Millville and Red Bud have over 150 acres each of nice level parking/camping areas. Probably more in actuality. I don't want to park my rv on a hill.

Well let's just hope that George Barber's track will come around. We need a good, American track in the south.

There will be plenty of level parking at the Barber facility. Unfortunatley there will also be plenty of level race track at Barber.
The new Kings Ranch facility in Bremen Ga. should have first shot at a National in the S.E.
