So last week I couldn't ride worth beans at the track. I just felt like I just couldn't focus. So I put my fanny pack on and my bluetooth headphones to listen go music while i ride.
It helped me a lot I felt like i could focus more and muffled the sounds around me. I listen low enough to hear bikes around me. Does anyone else do this at the track?

It helps me focus when I practice. I've never raced with it, I have the racing to keep my mind on things.
Practice days I'll go ride for 30 or 40 minutes and occasionally start thinking about changing the oil in my moto-van, or doing laundry when I get home, etc. A little music at a medium volume seems to tie up the part of my mind that wanders to that other unimportant shit. I can focus on riding and I find that I have fewer crashes.
I don't crank it up so loud that I can't hear a bike behind me, but I also keep my head on a swivel while I ride. There are plenty of incompetent a-holes out there who couldn't handle having some music on, but they're the same guys who don't have any track etiquette to begin with.
