All this talk about Team USA, I'm saying it's a reward that should be accepted with Honor and the Burden put on the AMA and the Teams to make it happen.
Simply put I don't believe anyone should be picked for the Team unless they are racing all year it just doesn't seem right with all the Talent we have why reward a guy for not participating all summer.

Before anything else, Team USA is an attempt to win the MXdN
p.s. and I agree with FTE 100%.
If one of your best riders hasn't raced anything since the first week of May - how can you expect him to be riding at his best in September? Especially considering the MXDN is OUTDOORS, its not SX.

1. First of all, it is a tremendous honor to be picked to represent the greatest motocross nation at the race of all nations. That honor should go to riders who respect the sport enough to ride their own country's outdoor series.
2. It is a burden in the tremendous pressure put on the riders who are expected to win the MXdN. There is no way to lessen that pressure without lessening the importance of winning the race, which won't be happening any time soon.
3. Being selected is a reward in the sense that the riders selected for Team USA are recognized as the cream of the crop. Also, their careers are enhanced by having an MXdN victory on their resume.
From the fans perspective: They feel the riders chosen should feel it's an honor.
From the Rides perspective: being picked is a reward
From the team and AMA perspective: it's a burden.
But, as long as team USA comes I'm happy and grateful. This is should be what you guys feel is right!
Remember, "that guy" was supposedly just barely ready for GH last year? We know how that ended up. Even Mike Alessi couldn't get in between him and 24-0.
Is this some kind of elementary school "all kids pass no matter what, because you don't want to hurt their feelings" type of thing? Or is it grown-up shit where we send the best man for the job? Why punish "that guy" because he's "that good"?
Oh yeah, "how can you expect him to be riding at his best in September?" I heard he has a track or 2 or 3 on his estate and he knows how to use him.
Tell the other guys to get better and be "the best men for the job". That's makes it a non-issue.
Oh, wait a minute, they already have that, it's called the NATIONALS!
I say take the three fastest dudes that race the nationals and go...if James Stewart wants to go he needs to race at least one national prior to the team being chosen...if he shows up and proves he's one of the three fastest guys on an outdoor track, I have no issue sending him.
James had a walk in the park out their, no pressure physically or mentally.
I think it's WAY too early to even be talking about WHO before we even see where everyone is at, and how fast they are. If we have 3 very fast racers no reason for James to race, but he surely can go and be a huge motivational person in the pits, and not have to worry about the pressures of winning. He has earned the right to go as an advisory so to speak, and be the older, big brother type role.
Tom.
Flip that around for SX, James has everyone number.
James knew he had the field covered, and he relaxed and enjoyed MX, it wasn't a race anymore really. When he rides having fun, he's amazing.
I would like to see James go to the MXDN's but as a support role, and advisory.
MXDN comes up and he wants to race. He's not paid to race, not paid endorsements, not paid to win. Why is he there, where is the reward? He is willing to sacrifice more of his time and resources to show up and race a distinguished event that during his regular season, would normally make him several hundred thousand dollars. Does he show up in shape, does he train prior to the event, is he giving 100% before during and after? Why not reward that? He is riding for free and there based on pride just like the other 2 riders and you can't put a price on that type of motivation, but you want to throw that aside for anyone that doesn't ride the outdoors, seems fair I guess?
Pit Row
for the euro's it's an awesome chance at getting that dream american ride they've been wanting..... if they lose, no big deal, they are expect to.....
it's all about bragging rights and for once not about the money or a championship, all the riders can go WFO becuz its the last race of the season and they dont have to worry about a points deficit or lead.
