I hate the stock bars and actually do want something taller I'm just scared cr highs will be too much. Thinking bars, tall seat, and maybe lower pegs will help me (6'1")
I’m not 6ft but I’m 5ft 11 and I run the Mika MC bend very comfortable and my cousins 6ft 2 and he runs them as well after He tried my bike. Where both running on the 18 model both have stock seats

I’ve heard some horror stories but I mean that could happen with any bike I have a 18 model only at 10hrs, hoping no issues, my 17 crf at 50 hrs had the decompressior on cam break off at 30 the kill switch started making bike cut out and had to track it down. Honda was a good bike but this is the first Yamaha I’ve ever owned or rode and I feel way better on the Yamaha and run better times on it so happy with my choice.

I rode one with a full fmf pipe it was fast and nice but after 2 laps and thought it was a heavy turd and couldn't wait to get back on my 2 smoker

55 hours on mine, love it stock. Honestly, TP map is way too fast for me (Local A rider). I run a much tamer map developed by Merge that John Short ran all last year for the nationals. TP map may be good for fast, deep tracks. For rough, rutted tracks like we have in Texas, it's far too much.

As for the handlebar mounts bending...they're rubber mounted, so all you have to do is smack them back in place (seems better than spending $700 on clamps). Ride engineering has a 1 piece mount for like 100 bucks that remedies the problem.

Stock valving is great, run sag at 105-108 with forks about 4 mil up.

Only mods I made were a gripper seat cover and lollipop style axle blocks. Front brake will fade after 15 min, might look into buying a KTM MC and 07 yz caliper.

I have a full Yoshimura on mine and run the tp 1 map and it’s a smooth power another buddy has a slip on and tp2 map it’s a lot more aggressive

2019 YZ 450:

1) Fastway Low pegs (mandatory IMO)

2) 2018 Bar mounts, stock bars

3) Went back and forth from the stock seat to the GYTR tall seat. I usually stick with stock seat heights but in this case I
finally settled on the tall seat. Much easier on my knees compared to the stock foam which gets hammered out real
quick.

4) Dr D engine relocation kit

5) TP 2.0 map

6) Looking for more midrange snap (probably due to my weight) gonna try a full FMF system

7) Enzo suspension. .52KG front, 6.2 KG rear

How many hours are you putting on the top end?

Dug deeper to find out the the exhaust valves were out of spec, the timing chain had jumped and was completely worn out, and the cylinder needed to be replaced.

But yet, there are guys around here that have never had an issue with them.

Anyways...this is a 19 forum not an 18 so I won't beat this to death. This was my 8th brand new Yamaha and it will certainly be my last with everything I went through.

I do get asked a lot how I like the Yamaha compared to my 19 CRF450 (my first Honda) and I can say that I do enjoy the Honda more. I'm a taller guy and I found that I fought the Yamaha a lot in the turns (compared to the previous model).
Ok, so my story is viceversa as yours.

I've been a Honda guy forever, last bike was a 17 450, worse bike I've ever had. I'm easy with bikes, never had any problems before, but with that 17 all I had was headaches.
broke the rear shock, gearbox, erased the threads of lot of screws, broke the rear hub after landing a big jump... I don't know what happened with Honda quality. 75hrs on that bike


Now I had 10hrs on the 19 YZF, felt very comfortable from the first day, didn't changed anything on the suspension and motor pulls nice and smooth (compared with the honda)


I'm assuming every brand is saving on the quality of the materials they are using, because older bikes were better.
