John put in a solid race yesterday. After going down in turn one of the first Moto he charged to finish 15th.
Moto two put in a amazing ride to finish in 9th.
Earning him 10th place overall on what was a brutal track and some great racing.
CONGRATULATIONS John Short!

We have a really good local track called Underground MX. It was the spot Kyle Regal's crew owned at one time and now he still teaches there. In the back was a scrub jump into rolling double section. I always thought if someone had the balls they could make that into one big triple. John Short proved me right. I can't really do justice to how big this is. It's completely blind and all speed. If you look close he clips a tree branch with his head.
my brother / Gainesville (TX) Sheet Metal / and nephew have helped him some. Hear he is a real good kid.
Obviously in hella shape, no one goes from last to 15th at Southwick without being a badass. and 9th in the 450's, second moto... that's straight up killer.
2 yrs ago I suffered a collapsed lung, and John loaded my bike and gear for me. He is very humble, and a great young guy.
About 11 days ago, (June 19th) he practiced at Oak Hill getting ready for the Florida National. The sand and rough conditions, and the extreme heat at Oak Hill were great conditions for him to prepare for the sand of Florida and The "Wick". On that day he practiced with a guy with the last name Floyd. Don't know who he was for sure, but I'm sure someone on here might. Anyways, they ran half hour moto's throughout the day, and the air temp was in the mid 90's and the heat index got to 106. It was a brutal day.
As others have said, he is from Pilot Point, TX which is where Tyler and Blake Wharton, and Hunter Hewitt all came from as well. Matt Lemoine, also moved to Pilot Point, TX and was based from there when he raced Supercross and the Nationals.
Oak Hill is Mitchell Oldenburg's home base, and is also close to where the Masterpool boys run out of at their facility in Paradise, TX
When Wil Hahn, and Tommy Hahn raced, their home and personal Supercross tracks was about 5 miles north of Oak Hill. There is a good base of private and public tracks in the north Texas area for pros.
I'm very happy to see John Short getting the results, because he puts in the work and its starting to show.
He has made consistent improvement every year in SX - and for a full privateer that's hard. He is usually very solid and rarely crashes
I think he is overlooked because his "raw speed" hasn't shown the be brilliant - but he shouldn't be overlooked. He is a killer rider, has no quit - and good person. I think on a factory effort his speed would go up a couple notches too
