I am new to the board, but I am thinning my heard a bit and have a super trick 77 Suzuki RM1125 on ebay that is ending soon. The item number is:

121473342222

This bike features a frame up restoration with a super rare LOP swing arm (this arm was pre the Banana are and fewer of them were made), Protec chain tensioner, DG head/porting, 134cc motor, 34mm carb, DG cone pipe, Mototek CDI, Fox airs, Gold rims, original whirl pull throttle, Goki air caps, rebuilt motor, new tires, power coated engine cases & frame, new rubber, new plastic (new oem side panels), brand new OEM silcener and a Moto-X-Fox painted fuel tank. There is about 5hrs left on my auction. Also, for reasons unknown to me there is a 79 YZ125 on ebay that is up to $4200 (reserve still not met) this bike has a roost bottle on it, and a shock reservoir and a lot of paint & stickers…what's going on here? I remember the 79 YZ125 and about the only good thing about it was the low seat height and that was about it…I would love to know why this bike is up to more than $4200.00…oh it does have a pretty trick carbon fiber air box cover.

And another nice bike! I'm building a 77 model also currently. You need to post a few more pics of this.

As for that 79 YZ125, yeah I'm a little suspicious on how the bid is stuck at just $50 off the BIN price. I would take this bike over the 79 YZ any day.

Yeah ,the bike is definitely well done it appears, but seems to suffer a little bit of an identity crisis. Mike P ,I read and understand your reasoning on why you used that conglomeration/combination of parts ,but I think most collector dudes would more likely spend big dollars on a team replica bike rather than the best parts available at the time. That bike would be even more awesome if you ditched the Fox paint job (WTF?!? cant believe I just said that!!!) and went with a Team DG look (blue/yellow) particularly since it already has a DG appearance. Just my opinion ,since you were questioning why that 79 YZ was "apparently" breaking the bank. By the way,did you end up selling it ?

Yeah, you make a very good point and I may just put the yellow and blue DG tank back on the bike, but as an avid collector myself, I refuse to pay the big bucks for the so called replicas, because they are just that "replicas". I have seen guys spend as much for replica as an actual team bike (some guy paid like 18k for a 1979 Moto-X-Fox replica CR250 a couple of months ago on ebay...what the F...Jeff' Wards factory KX500 only sold for like 15K a few years ago. Now back to that 79 YZ. The parts on that bike are not period correct (carbon fiber airbox cover...really?). There are other parts that are also not period, but the main reason why I am scratching my head over this bike reaching those number (and it still hadn't met the reserve), is that I remember that bike well and they were not that poplar that year. I have 2 1980 YZ125's, now this is a YZ125 to have, but the 79...really...Not trying to be a hater but certain bike just had a place in MX history, such as the 74-78 CR125, 75 & 77 RM125, 78 KX125 & the 80 YZ125. These bikes were the game changers back in the day.

Black frame and Fox tank is the ticket, imo.

DG yellow was a lighter pale. I recognize there were more than one hue utilized by DG "sponsored" riders, but the official "Team DG" bikes were a strange pale yellow which made it unique to DG.

Beautiful bike overall.

Going that way would necessitate a set of Simons up front and bouncing the cool DG head. Be easier and more cost effective in my opinion to just swap out tank. Sounds like Michael P already has one of those at his disposal ,so presto. .chango . I definitely agree that certain bikes hold a certain place in MX history ,and certainly agree that the 77 RM125 is one. When I got mine back in the day,I think I won like 10 motos in a row ,I felt unbeatable!! lol. That was until Sammy Bosnic passed me on a fast downhill with his hair flying all over the place, and POOF! magic was gone Tongue

I could not afford a 77 RM125 back in the day, but Suzuki did not make enough of them that year as i remember several guys being pissed they weren't available. What people may not know or remember is that this bike was a 1 year bike (as it was configured). 77 was the only year the RM125 came with the following parts in one year: laid down shocks with reservoirs, up pipe, leading axle forks and aluminum fuel tank. The sum of the parts was really significant at the time because the CR125 paled in comparison at the time (Honda really kept that design in production way too long) and the bike really had no equal that year.. In 78 there really wasn't a 125 that compared or was any better as that change came in 79 with the RM125N. Honorable mention has to go to the 78 KX125, which was made in even fewer numbers and got the distention of being called a "works replica", but it really never truly got the status of the 77 RM125 (mainly because there were fewer of them so people did not get to experience them.

I don't disagree. It's a beautiful bike, regardless of livery.
BTW, my '77 was my all time favorite bike. I raced it through '79 and wish I still had it.... Mike P is a lucky dude.
Check out my old helmet in my avatar for a glimpse of where my loyalty lay..... That helmet (the only one I kept) sits on my shelf in the garage (the important room in every house).

That's a pretty cool bike ya got there Mike. The colors confuse my eyes a bit but maybe that's just because I'm used to seeing a little dirt on a dirt bike.

I have no idea why that other '79 YZ125 is going for so much. It's clean but mostly stock ho-hum with a few period add-ons. And the carbon fiber "look" doesn't belong at all.

Nice helmet "Mini Elsinore" Here are some more photos when I had the Simons forks and DG tank on the bike and yes, the tank and frame are a pale yellow (not that burnt factory yellow the tank and fenders came with.

I'm diggin that DG look with the stock panels. The correct color of the frame makes the case, hands down. Beautiful.

I just found a cherry survivor last month and feel very lucky to have my first racer back. I will restore it pretty close to stock after I finish my 76 250 Maico and 80 390 Husky

Those Suzuki's look great.I could use one or two...Back in 1977 I was trying to buy the 77 YZ125D,but my brother got the last one on Long Island. So we went to Suzuki and they tried to sell me a leftover 76 RM,But I talked my Dad into a new 77. It ended up being a much better bike then the Yamaha.

They are awesome and they really tipped the scales that year, problem is Suzuki didn't make enough of them...

The1977 Y125D was sold out here in NY. That was due to Bob Hannah winning everything in 76. I really wanted the YZ125. But got "stuck" with the 77 Rm125B. There was plenty of them here.
Although I still to this day would like a 1976 YZ125X.

This might just be the year I actually race this bike...so far it's claim to fame has been running it up and down my block like 3 times since building it back on 2006...oh yeah starting it and letting it run about a dozen times...bike is begging to be raced...

Mike, that bike is awesome. Almost too nice to be racing but since you have had it for 9 years may as well. Just take lots of pics along they way. You only live once and were not getting any younger.

Looks neat!

Was gonna say that paint is banana yellow more than it is Suzi yellow, but someone chimed in about it being something to do with DG...

I wish makers like DG and Fox Moto-X would start repopping their old mx gear, they would make a bucket! I need Fox forks, rear shocks and Swingarm for an '80 Honda CR 125 .. You watch, give it 10 years..

I really want a '77 Suzi RM 125 as that was the year I was born and plus they're meant to be a rad bike, also looking out for any of the 'red - engine' 78 - 81 CRs (125s and 250s) as those were bikes I used to remember seeing in the window of the bike stores, but my parents either couldnt afford it for me or didnt want me out there killing myself lol..
