I've got a 2003 KX 125 if anyone needs a bike to race!
Why not line up?

I've checked the bike eligabilty rules on MX Sports web sites, and find no mention of brands at 'b' bullet point, other than KTM, KTHusky and Yamaha with regards to current manufacturers.

An earlier poster mentioned TM as being elligable, but I don't see any reference to them, nor Sherco or Beta, who all produce 125s. Sure, not MX designated 125s ( a Sherco won a round of major - OZ titles? - lights blazing, recently) , but modern, current 125s nonetheless.

So, are the smaller manufacturers 'blocked from competing? Is a (homologation) rule that is used to keep out small brands from the 250s and 450s being used when 3 of the major manufacturers don't even make 125 2ts anymore? If so, it's bizzare. They've been given an 'in' (and I'm fine with that) with their last few years of production, well, why in hell are not the small manufacturers that Still make / have made new 125 2ts allowed in? Manufacturers that choose Not to make 125 2ts should not be placated / bent over for - if they are not interested. Let those brands that Are, race.

And only 4 laps...........

As I've written before, I hope DC & Co bring this to a full series next year, with at least a 20 + 2 lap moto, and all current 125 2t manufacturers bikes being allowed to compete.

Really, you can’t ride a non mainstream brand? Fukkin stinks. TM, Gas Gas, etc putting development into 2 strokes and sell an excellent and currant product. That’s just not fair at all and rules need changing right now!

I have spoken to MX Sports on this prior to entering to make sure I built the correct bike for it. The two guys I spoke with could not have been more helpful and I was left with the impression that they are just trying to get a handle on it early for a foundation to build on, fully expecting it to gain interest.

Specifically my call to them was for two questions:
First, the rules stating certain bikes for certain years. They both leaned on the fact that the rules are out there now and should be followed. I read between the lines and believed that if someone showed up with a really nicely built 2003 and kept their nose clean that it wasn't likely they would get DQ'd, but it was a risk to show up with anything outside of the rules on the chance that you could potentially be turned away for not being eligible.

Second, the elephant in the room for these types of races are big bore kits. This answer was much more clear and concise, the rule is 125cc and they immediately offered that last year they DQ'd someone found to have a big bore. No games on this one was my take.

The final thought... build up a killer 125, jet it up, and have some fun!

There is no homologation rule for the 125cc All Star race, other than being within three years of most recent release (and we will be lenient as mentioned if it's maybe a year off but in good condition) and no overbores. TMs and Betas and GasGas are fine for this class.

My apologies to you Dave. We better get our facts straight in future.
It is amazing that this class and everything around it creates so much passion. It’s what the fans want.
thanks for clearing that up.

We'd / I'd not have been asking these questions if what DC has replied with was in the regulations up on MX Sports website. Apologies to DC are not needed. Someone now needs to type into their site, what DC has written here.

Nonetheless, Thank you, DC, for quickly responding, and, telling us that the 125 rules are fair and appropriate to what Is being produced for the 125 market.

Hopefully, next year, it will develop into a full series. If not, perhaps an East / West dual series, to keep costs down for Championships aspirants? If it's good for SX, well, why can't it be used for 125s, at least until it becomes a full, single, National Championships.

Be nice to see a full gate of 40 screaming 125s regardless of the years. Really anything produced mid 95 and up can be built as competitive. Just think if we were still in a two stroke era most could afford two bikes easily and race so much more.

Right now our goal is to keep it run and easy and allow a place for not only young up-and-comers and local fast guys, but also retired professionals and riders from other disciplines -- for instance, Ryan Villopoto and Colton Haaker are both racing Hangtown, which will be really cool.

What we don't want is a third professional championship class. There is not enough time in the program to do it properly (as we found out with the WMX) nor do we want to run off guys like RV and Josh Hansen who are doing it for the fun and the fans enjoy seeing.

Mr info = Jody? I don't get it. Am I a bad person because I m bummed Glen Helen isn't on the schedule? I loved watching the pros ride GH. Tracks gnarly son.
I don't get it either!
Really shitty that GH is gone again from our Nationals, in fact it fucking sucks, for a multitude of reasons.
No other track in the series transfers as well to TV, nothing even comes close imo. The coverage was incredible there! The one track i hope i get a chance to see a national at some point.

Anyways back on track, glad the 125 races are returning. A novelty act or not its still cool.
