Thinking about upgrading the suspension on my 07 kx250 2T with 2010 kx250f forks and shock. Just curious if anyone has done it? Thought about using '11 year model, but wanted to stay away from ssf forks.

the 07 KX250 had twin chamber KYB forks that are still pretty good, the 450 ran versions of those forks until they went to the air fork, not sure how much improvement the 2010 twin chamber showa's of the 250F woiuld be, i think a revalve (and respring if needed) would do just as good a job,

The KX has the crappy 1st generation KYB aos forks like the '05 YZ's so an upgrade to the sss or Showas would yield improvement. I knew one person that swapped his '03 cartridge KYB's for a set of 450's sss forks and said it made a world of difference.

If you decide to do it and don't have a use for the back shock let me know and I'll take it off your hands for you, looks like you live close. 06 & 07 have high and low speed compression adjustment, my 05 only has low and a internal high speed.

Ive been thinking of throwing a pair of DLC coated 450 forks on my 125 but just curious what all would be needed.

I would try to get a newer set of KX450f stuff 08 or newer. The older showa stuff is smaller in diameter than the KYB's... You would probably have to swap triple clamps, but with a set of 450 stuff it could go right on. There is a few variables im not sure about (lug offset, axle size and width ect)

I didn't think about the forks being slimmer or fatter to fit in the claps. I'm pretty sure the axle is the same. I saw some kx250 with 450f/250f forks on them on cl for sale when I was looking. But who knows.. I was just trying to get some feed back from someone that might have done it. The clickers on the forks go to like 24 clicks and the compression on the shock just keeps going. So I figured it would prob just be cheaper to get some news ones. Then getting them redone as the previous owner stripped the clickers out.

Ive converted a couple

The 450 forks bolt in

We did a couple with 250f sff stuff (blasphamy!) using clamps off 250f. Steering stops arent the same but it can be done

The shock off the 250f is too long. Different ways to address that. Technologically - the stock kyb shock is exact same as modern so running it is fine

My next project will be to try and get a modern swingarm on

The rear of kawis always makes the bikes feel harsh to me. If you are chasing front harshness (perceived) often its the rear

Did you have to get different wheel spacers, different front brake caliper? The 450 forks slid right in without any additional hardware? I have been tossing around this idea of doing this if i can find a set of 2009-12 forks instead of revalving my stock 07 forks.

Everything will bolt up, wheels and hubs are the same front and back.

I have done it. I used the entire front end from an 2009 kx250f. I also used a 2009 ohlins shock on the rear, but, had to make different linkage. I didn't like the stock linkage anyway, because the last portion of travel wasn't actually "rising rate"

I have 06 KX450 forks on our 05 KX250 and they went on no problem. Direct swap
