Back in the day i had a big Iguana, but i am looking into maybe getting a Veiled Chameleon. Been doing research on care and supplies, cant really afford it right now, but i dont care, after losing my cat i need another pet, and i have always loved lizards.

Anyone have any experience?

I got a leopard gecko. Dude is cool af but cant really play with him and he sleeps half the day. Doesnt really replace a cat or dog. Also I was not prepared for the different maintenance they need. Pet store didnt say shit about how to take care of him. Hes nearly died 5 times over by now.

I've been looking to get rid of the guy but I'm afraid of giving him to some dumb ass off craigslist who's not gonna care for him. If you can figure out a way to get him from Georgia to California, hes yours along with the aquarium and other shit. Just pay the shipping.

Ths for the offer bro but i have my mind set on a Chameleon, they are slow and wont get away from me, and they are totally friendly if you raise them right. My big iguana was a mean little fucker when he was young, but chilled out when he got bigger.

My daughter has had a few veiled over the years. You need to get them used to handling or they are some mean sumbitches. They are really cool once you get them trained up right and used to human contact. Good luck OC.

Yea chameleon don't do too well in captivity. They're exceptions tho. I do have some tame dinosaurs. This is a threatened species of Rock iguana Cyclura Cornuta, the rhino iguana. Cool animals.

And 2 other species of rock iguana Cyclura Lewisi hybrid. Not a decade ago there was only a dozen of the Grand Cayman blue iguana left in the wild but efforts now has numbers growing quickly. Pure grand Cayman are not allowed in U.S. but the original breeders that were sent back after successful breeding. Hybrids are allowed, a blue mixed with a brown Cuban iguana Cyclura nubila. If not for captive husbandry a lot of these animals would only be read about in books. These two are lap puppies too.

I had a NEWT when I was 10...Got out and found him dried up in my yard 8 months later. how he got out and by all the shizz that eats him is beyond me.

Those are some beautiful Iggy's man! I had a really cool one back in the 90's that got fairly big, nothing like that sized though. He would come and go in and out of his enclosure on his own. Well one day i fell asleep on the couch and had the window open and he got out, i was so bummed, wish i had some pictures of him, use to walk him on a leash lol

I've got a Russian Tortoise, Painted Turtle, and Crested Geckos. The geckos don't really do much, but I have a soft spot for turtles/tortoises. Pretty easy as far as care goes, at least for the tortoise.

Oh, and speaking of snakes, I saw about 30+ of these guys yesterday...

Have an american alligator that we used to walk around on a leash! Haha I have no experiance with chameleons but have owned many reptiles, including but not limited to plenty of snakes (clumbian red tailed boa was sweet), green iguanas, nile monitor (also super cool), anoles. At one time my living room was lined with terrariums. Then I had kids and prioritys change. Still got the alligator, but thats it. If you raised an iguanna I would imagine the chameleon would be similar. Get the right lights, humidity control, proper food, and plenty of handling and most reptiles are cool AF.

I’ve kept a panther chameleon and Jackson’s chameleon before. They’re fun reptiles to own but are very temperamental to their environment and food, and like someone posted above you need to get them used to you when they’re younger or else they’re assholes haha. My Jackson’s was a douche and hated me but my panther was rad as fuck and would come hangout on my shoulder all the time. But when they shit on you’re shoulder it’s not cool haha. Feeding them is pretty bad ass tho, they definitely like to hunt for their food and will fuck up some horn worms and meal worms. They’re a lot of work but it’s fun to care for them.

My Sulcatta tortoise Shelby.got him about 18 years ago and he was the size of a lime. He weighs around 60ibs now and measures 20” front to back....he’s still growing. Strong as a OX . Our pig is his best friend and the two will lay out n the sun together

We have an adult standard leapord gecko, a juvenile snow leapord gecko and a young adult royal ball python...my 8yo loves reptiles and we would have more, but mama says no.

As far as the chameleon goes, we looked into getting one because they are so cool, but they are so hard to get their husbandry perfect, and if it's not perfect 100% of the time, the chameleon will suffer, so we stuck with what we know, leapord geckos.
