First GNCC race today

Edited Date/Time 4/6/2019 6:02pm
Always been into MX/SX, but hit my first GNCC race today. What an awesome time, much respect to all the riders, track was awesome, never seen ruts bar deep going up a mountain.

Duvall, Russell, Bollinger in XC1 Kelly XC2 close awesome racing for 3 hours.

Spent almost all of the 2 hours amateur race pulling bikes out of the mud, felt like I rode for 2 hours.

If you have a chance and haven't been to a GNCC race, try it. I'm hooked.

3 rounds and 3 different winners. It’s shaping up to be a great series.

Welcome to the other side Openwheel racer. You will enjoy riding off road through the woods.

we're motocrossers, but did our first GNCC at steele creek this weekend as well, with both my boys on 50's.

wow, what a fun event! i've ridden for tracks 25yrs, and still love it, but i def can see why offroad is growing. cost us a fraction of what mx does, with way more seat time, and much much easier to schedule the day out with me riding as well as the kids. we'll def hit a few more this year.

and i got to goon out a holeshot in the mud ;-)

A LOT of MXers have gone to GNCC. It was Warm on Saturday ten cooler on Sunday with some great track conditionals and mud in the lower spots.

Living in NC you should try the mid east series. Better courses and cheaper fees. GNCC is over hyped and over priced.

Yes, mid east is hare scrambles only, SETRA does HS and enduro's. Different racing orgs.

You also have the NCHSA.org series in NC. NCHSA is hare scrambles only as well.

main bike loop is about 11miles, the micro classes (PW -> big 50's) ran a 1.6mi course that was basically the lower/easier/less hills/less technical sections of the main course. it's def enough challenge for the little guys, but my PW pilot had no problems except one muddy spot.

+1 on Mideast
NCHSA and SETRA have some good races too. There is a Virginia series that is pretty good too, I hear. Never been to one though

Mideast Series rocks!! If you haven't raced that series and are in the NC area you should give them a try, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve been curious about PWs and gncc events.

650 bikes on the course at the same time for the amateur race on Sunday. 80 bikes in one class. You think a 40 rider gate in mx gets busy. Man.

How many blown bikes did you see compared to a MX race. Just curious since the race is longer but revs are likely lower. I recently went trail riding for the first time in two years and it was SOOOO much fun compared to a mx track.

I have Verizon, yes with that not very good service though. I swear they purposely look for areas that don't have cell phone service to have gncc's
