My Fox boots are roached and I got them with an old bike I bought 3 seasons ago. They are super comfy but the soles are mangled and the right boot has a small tear and water fills the boots at any little splash on the trail. I dont want to spend more than $350-400 on a pair of boots but i do not want junk either. Looking at these tech 7s, a lot of people say they are awesome boots. Open to suggestions within price range!

i just bought a pair of tech 10s today for around this price new from rmatvmc and wow man they sure are comfortable, saftey wise i have no clue but very comfy, i owe the guy who gave me a discount on these suckers they sure are nice, i tried on the tech sevens tho, first thing i noticed was i had to go up one size on the alpines to get them to feel correct on both the 7 and 10 so i bought one size bigger and vola perfect fit

Been wearing 7’s for quite a few years now after previously coming from 8’s. I’ve got five pairs in rotation, so yeah, I like them a lot.

I got some tech 7's enduro with the threaded sole on them. Comfiest boot I had so far. Really liking them. I didnt even know they had a enduro version before the dealer asked me. If you do more trail then track i would look into it.

I wear Tech 7's. Right out of the box to the track. Zero break in. Super comfy and no shifting problems.

Zero regrets on the Tech 7. Best value boot out there. Matthes is always raving about how much he loves his Tech 7's... heard him say once that some of the pro riders will wear a Tech 10 for SX (for the stiffness/support), but then switch to the Tech 7 for outdoors since they flex better. Thought that was pretty intriguing

my tech7s were the most comfy boots ive ever owned. I do prefer my 10s. They are a lot heavier but the extra support it worth it.

I have 2 pairs of Tech 7. Both have about 50 hours of riding and are still in good shape but they both could use a new sole soon. Overall I’m happy with them, but I’m gonna get a pair of SG12 soon.

I bought a new pair of 7's last year after selling my worn SG12's. Hated the 7's, the were light and comfortable on the bike, but when walking (I ride off-road) the reverse buckle at the bottom bruised the top of my foot. I thought it was a fluke and wore them again for another ride and same thing happened. I sold them and went back to SG12's.

If you have wide feet I would recommend Gaerne, I am a 9.5 wide and can’t wedge these fred flinstone feet into a tech 10 of any size. The seven I had to go to a size 11.

I currently wear an older pair of SG12 and I really like them, great support, sole is still in great shape and the white color has held up pretty darn good for 5 years old!

Check out the Fly Sector boots. 350 dollar boots on close out at many places for $140-$170. They are made by TCX. Just don't think they sold enough of them. Many on here have bought them with happy results and you can buy two pair for the price haha.

Tech 7s are great, just ask Josh hill. The older tech 10s are for sale for 350 now and are a better boot as far as longevity and protection tho.

I had a bad tib/fib/ankle joint injury a few years ago (lots of screws and joint reconstruction). It was the result of a case on a double (brand new track, so landing area was still very sharp / so cased it pretty solid.) I didn't even crash, but destroyed my ankle. Since you have both Tech 7 and 10, which would you recommend for better cushioning/support for direct bottom impact under heel (hope that makes sense.)

The tech 10 for sure has more ankle support. And the new version has an impact absorbing foam under the heel for exactly the reason you specified. The back part of the steel shank rides right on foam piece so it helps the whole foot with bump and impact absorption.

Thanks for the response. Exactly the information I wanted.

I would go with SG 12's in that case or Sidi if you have a narrow foot.

I ran SG12s for about 7 years . I recently bought Tech 7s definitely feel more worn out then I expected after 7 ride days total . I will more then likely buy clearance SG12s next time.

Same! Have been wearing them since 2007 and love this model. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a competitive mid level boot.

What were you wearing before ? I’m in tech10s now. Love the support. My ankles can’t take the beating they used to be able to.

I prefer the 7’s over the too tight 10’s too. However, I was replacing the soles every 3 months at $120 a pop. Switched to sg12’s friggin fantastic. I’m looking to switch to Sidi srs3 for a smaller toe box for the next few months.
