I had ankle injury while riding in Spain. Looked less bad than Febvres leg and after xrays doctor said after taking couple days easy I could get back to bike in next week. Well came back to Finland have another opinion and had broken ligament, fractured bones as they made contact each other during crash. That kept me away from racing couple months even we didnt repair ligament after all. I dont see him racing next round but lets hope im wrong.

I'll be surprised if he's racing Matterly
And... Matterly have massive jumps, would be a tough ask for the ankle ?

If he'd stuck that ankle in a cooler the minute the boot came off he'd be over it weeks faster.

Letting something swell is not smart, learned that long ago.

I woulda bet money on a broken ankle. 'Course I haven't been to med school yet.
You win.

I was just gonna post that...

Yamaha announced today that an exam at the the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA) by orthopaedic specialist Dr. Geert Peersman confirmed that Romain Febvre sustained a broken Talus (ankle) in two places in his right ankle.

Febvre will undergo surgery on March 12 and recover time is expected to be six weeks after the operation.

"Sad news today. I broke the Talus bone in my ankle. I feel really sad, not only for myself but for my entire team and all of the people involved. This is how it is; these things are part of our sport. Now I need to focus on getting it fixed with an operation next Tuesday, and then I can start my rehabilitation. I will try to be back on the bike as soon as possible, right now they are saying around six weeks more or less, but even when I get back on the bike I will have lost a lot of time and physical condition with no training. I will see when I am back on the bike how things are going and what I am focusing on, until then I can not say too much. The main goal is to get my foot fixed."

I broke the shit out of my ankle/foot back in 16. Emergency room said I was good and sent me home with ibuprofen even though my ankle was the size of a grapefruit. But things hurt a certain way when they are broken and I knew better.
I went to specialist the next day and surgery the day after that. These ER folk are not the best at being specialists and overlook the details sometimes. Total bummer for him and his championship hopes.!

My navicular broke (same as scaphoid in the wrist) and the ER and ortho doc both missed it. The ortho doc used his own xrays too. My foot looked like a football. Took the xrays to a podiatrist. Podiatrist says nah, we do it different. Took a weight bearing xray and the damage was way obvious. Ended up with the navic fused to the talus.
The talus is another bone that has poor circulation, He could be in bad shape in his old age.

It's time to make that call to Anthony Rodriguez. GP experience...Yamaha rider...privateer...and another victim of the ridiculous FIM MX2 age rule.

AGE DISCRIMINATION is real people!
