Well, it all depends if he used the fuel intentionally or if it was accidental. But either way, the fuel failed. Now the onus is on him to prove it was accidental...

What a joke!

AMA sx rules

a. All motorcycles must use unleaded fuel corresponding to
petroleum-based fuel as defined by the American Society for
Testing and Materials (ASTM), designation: D4814, with the
following clarifications:
b. The specific gravity must fall within the range: 0.715 - 0.765 at
60º F.
c. The maximum oxygen content is 4.0% m/m.
d. The maximum allowable level of lead is 0.025 g/l.
e. The only allowable oxygenates are ether and alcohols, as
listed and characterized for oxygen mass fraction in ASTM
D4814.
f. Epoxides (i.e. propylene oxide) will not be considered ethers.
Nitrogen-bearing compounds are not permitted.
g. Lubrication additives are permitted provided the resulting
mixture would meet all other requirements.
h. Any infringement of the fuel specifications will automatically
result in the disqualification of the competitor from the entire
meet. The result of the riders' fuel sample analysis that is more
favorable to the competitor (whether it be the A or B sample)
will be taken into account. Riders can appeal this decision
before the competent body.
i. See Appendix D E for Fuel Test Procedures

It has changed since I last read the rules.

Used to be 3 percent I believe for oxy content.
Interestingly they rule OUT propylene oxide which I know is used in some of vp's stuff
No Nitrogen bearing compounds - I believe this rules out shel v power pump gasses.

Pump gas doesn't pass in general - too highly oxygenated. And even still - the BEST fuel that would be illegal you could run that would make it 35 minutes on the tank capacities we have - would maybe be worth .5 hp over what is legal.
Why bother.

The lead content requirement is so low that traces of it will trip the test - and those traces aren't high enough to be useful

It's like anything else - extensive rules detract from the sport. Baja trophy truck racing has a 1 page rulebook.
Most of it safety

There are a lot of different winners each year there - and the racing is better than the highly limited classes IMHO
What’s the absolute best fuel to run when looking for the highest horsepower? I’ve always ran MR12 but I’ve hears there’s a few fuels that are better

Rules is rules.. Fuel samples are taken at random, usually drawn out of a hat, by the Jury. Nobody is targeted

crazy good odds that 3 from the same team got chosen... would love that playing the lotto.

But issuing of penalties noticeably faster.

I didnt quickly find an easy spec sheet on pump gas e15

but sunoco e15
Green
Octane (R+M)/2 98
Research Octane 104
Motor Octane 93
Specific Gravity 0.745
Weight (lbs/gallon) 6.2
Reid Vapor Pressure (PSI) 6.1
10% Evaporation (°F) 147
50% Evaporation (°F) 206
90% Evaporation (°F) 228
Stoichiometric Air/Fuel Ratio 14
Oxygen (weight%) 5.6
Ethanol (volume%) 15
H/C Ratio 2.05
O/C Ratio 0.05
Lower Heating Value (Btu/Gallon) 108200
Lower Heating Value (Btu/Pound) 17500
Leaded No

Well over 4 percent at 15 - I read just under 4 at e10.
My experience in testing has shown many pump fuels vary quite a lot.

havent tested everything on the market

Formerly - VP Pro6 is hard to beat. They say mr12 is better in paper - but I haven't seen it on the dyno
Renegade sx4+ was similar to vp

And for me, ETS was a tad off pro6 but I was told it's more stable in storage - and safer to be around.
ETS looked like brown water (dye I assume)

The word is back when josh pitts was at renegade - the teams had a special fuel that was worth a good bit more than sx4+ you couldn't buy

Im told he still sells this to those around him - who knows.

I know VP has the testing equipment that could do olympic drug testing - and can test anything and know what it is. There aren't many secrets in the fuel world now days....

How much of an advantage did that special fuel give team italy?LOL.
Also,it would of made more sense for the organizing body to take samples of top 6-9 placed teams and first test teams 1-3 for cheats.

If only 8 were tested, then 3 out of 8 sounds fishy. 60 guys in the A main.

No fancy fuel allowed!
But can make a full blown factory works bike for event.
Sounds a bit twisted..

Do you know how to get in contact with Josh Pitts? I do drag racing with dirt bikes and would be very interested in some custom fuels

Shame for Italy. In most of these cases it's the slightest discrepancy. Highly unlikely that there was any intention to use illegal fuel. I know a number of guys were disqualified from Assen GP for the same thing. Team GB 3rd but it doesn't feel like a podium. It's cool that we get to run 7, 8, 9 again next year. But we didn't stand on the podium on the day so it doesn't mean as much. I suppose the record will show back to back podiums which is nice
I agree its a load of bollox, result should be done on the day not in the following year, shame for Italy too.

I dont know the mxgp fuel rules now, but recent years the US teams always ”complained” that their bikes were down on power at the mxdn events due to other fuel rules forcing them to run lower compression.

I dont se anything strange with testing bikes from a nation that normaly run another type of gas?

Its not the fuel, its what it lets you do.. proper race gas lets you run higher compression, more ignition advance, which adds up to big power.

Anyone remember SoCal Blue? That was the fuel of choice back in my days.... By the way, this 4 months later shit? Stupid...

Imagine this ridiculousness 4 months after the premiere event of any other sport.
