Shannon Niday and Tyler will be coaching classes Tues-Thur in Pilot Point, TX from 4 pm-6 pm at Tyler's house. Dates that are open as follows: April 21-23 and April 28-30, May 5-7 and May 12-14. Fees will be $150 per session (minis and big bikes, all skill levels) 50 students will also be 4 pm-6 pm, but only $100.

Proceeds will be going to help fund Tyler's 2009 Outdoor rookie season.

Shannon has put a program together for Tyler to train 50 riders during this 4 week period. This will get them a head start on things so when the clutch and shifter come into play they will already know the basic fundamentals and have the knowledge of proper technique working on their side when they move to the 65.

Tyler is a very mentally strong kid with an unbelievable positive attitude and is great with kids. This is not a full time job for Tyler. He is just needing some funding for the season coming up.

Tyler is doing the racing on his own without financial support from anyone other than his sponsors and a few friendly people helping him out here and there.

IMO If the kid is not good enough to get paid by now he never will be. My advice is to put the scooter away and get ready for phase 2 of his life what ever that may be.

i still cant believe he doesnt have more help by now. shows how hard it really is for these guys.
he should be talking to jlaw. with him wanting to stay on the 450, they could use a 250 rider.

There is no motorhome or much anything else to sell. Tyler has 2 bikes, one race and one practice and they are both thrashed. He is on his own. As is Blake, only Blake got a better ride. Parents are going through a divorce....

Huh? Blake what? Geico Powersports does nothing for him? I don't get it.

So none of Tylers sponsors work on his bikes and/or pay for parts (bikes trashed)? No MDK, No Warthog racing?

Just trying to understand, that's all. Good for him trying and working his way at it.

It's amazing a guy who can qualify for main events in SX can not make a living out of it, or at least afford the bare minimums to continue racing.

Something is wrong with that, it just doesn't seem right. Just my opinion, sorry to hear about his parents.

The boys are on their own, as in taking care of themselves, not the parents. Their sponsors take great care of them. Mechanic's pay, entry fees, hotels, car rentals, or flights are not included in Tyler's sponsorships. He just wanted to help teach a few classes to make a little extra money to make getting to the races a little easier this summer.

That Pro amateur running a 85 will sell more bikes than a Pro finishing 15Th at a supercross.. This sport lives and dies at the local level. What goes fast at the local track on Sat. and Sun. is whats sells bikes on Monday. That guy that finished 15th place finish has ZERO impact on bike sales. In the Moto world that guy does not matter.

The bottom line is, If you are not getting paid by the time you are 17 then you are not going to make it in this sport. The factories are on the lookout for the latest and greatest 12,13 and 14yr old rider coming up. If you are 18 or 19 and and still trying to make it to the next level you missed your window.

yea, im trying to understand this also. blake podiumed a couple times and won a race or 2, and honda isnt doing anything for him? just supplying a bike?

good luck to these 2 kids. im sure some good help will come along soon.
hopefully mxsports can get some shat together and get these riders paid for doing what they do this summer.
