On one of the car forums I go to they have a points system. You have to pretty much stick to the subject......if you intentionally ruin someones thread with meaningless crap like calling someone a dumbass and go off about their spelling for no reason you get x number of points. I think its like 25 points is a 2 day ban. 50 is a week. 75 life.

I, like many people here, have been around the sport for years and at 30 years old carry an ama card that says 24 year member, but yet I get guys acting like I have never seen a race.

I guess I'm just not in the "regulars" big circle jerk.

Not a big fan of rules. The more rules, the more time your going to have to spend on here looking for rule breakers. Maybe just a little common sense? We all know what's acceptable here. Some people take this place a little to seriously. Really, go to a bar and listen to what gets said about Jeter, A-Rod, T.O., and so on. All great athletes, but people love to hate them.

I think of this place kinda like a lounge, where you just come to chill, talk a lil smack, get some advice on bike problems, and just hang out. Latley it's turned into a pissing contest. Someones feelings get hurt, they go on a rant, and people just pile on.

Maybe change is needed, I guess it just depends what your vision of the board really is.

Good luck

I'll work on some tomorrow...but in the meantime, I'd like some feeback from you guys as well. What would you like to see in the posting rules to keep things civil here?

Once they're done, I'll sticky them and leave it at the top of the forum.

Mandatory member meetings. If you want to post, you must attend.
1)Boxing gloves optional.
2)Mouth pieces are allowed.(many on here wear dentures I'm guessing)
3)No head gear.

The race night thing needs to change, it's an absolute mess. Thirty different threads about the same thing followed by thirty more of bait. Add in a few alter egos and a bunch of NOOBS and it's unbearable.

I used to try and catch the race news on MD but now I just go to racerx or the main vital page

the first page of the forum looks like this on a race night...

wasnt straight up...

alessi passed in the whoops..

oh man alessi is slow in the whoops..

alessi sucks in the whoops

so i was thinking...

chad is the best...

alessi got smoked in the whoops!

straight up

LB vs. GOD..

bubba crashed!

bubba down...

bubba sucks

crashed

still not straight up
alessi sucks in the whoops

You can watch the board and even the mods can't keep up with all the crap during a race.

Start everyone on the homepage to checkout what's up like either Sun or Monday after race to see the photos and get caught up with what you GuyB have in the pipeline before we all start going to the forums..

Shows respect for your work and gets everyone caught up on each race after you've got everything posted. I'm guilty as heck for going right to the forum and getting info that way while you work your butt off on a nice home page.

Once a week, unless there is no race, start everyone on your homepage first for 5-10 minutes..don't know if that would be a nuisance or not do-able.....

Just a suggestion.

Hope you get my drift.

The new 3 step member approval process

Minimum 48 hours from sign up to ability to post - 1st step

Must have taken the bike off it's stand at least once - 2nd step

Actually ridden the sucker around a track - 3rd step

And for access to the new hard core section

Must be able to start a hot & flooded 450 - 1st step

Skin off your knuckles from a tyre change - 2nd step

Actual experience racing with a front drum brake - 3rd step

This all is a nice ploy to deny the fundemental problem here

If only you could be placed by the posts you make.

Some of you would be starting upsided down and backwards in the C class.

Setting the rules are one thing, upholding them is the real problem.
How are you going to enforce the rules?
You can click a user or ban them from the site, is that going to help?
No, it won’t, people will get a new user name or have multiple ID’s.
Block the IP address, will that help?
No, that won’t work either. People will have their IP address reset or spoof their IP address.

So what to do?

I suggest a fee for the membership, it does not need to be much, let’s say 5$.
When the user is clicked, he/she has to apply for a new user, and pay an additional 5$.
That way the clicking/deleting of a user will work as a fine, and hopefully enforce the rules on the site.
I also suggest that the moderators of the board report to you any violation of the rules, so that you can utilize them in detecting rule breakers.

Now, for the rules themselves, I do think you have got some serious replies in the previous posts in the tread.

Brgds

I like how people that are new to this board want to express most of the rules...

If you are new and don't like the way the board operates...buh bye!!

Has society really become this much of a "pussy"?

Only thing I would like to see is for people to stop embedding videos. There is no way this just effects "my'" office, home and laptop. It locks things up and takes forever to get them to open. It's no different if we just post the email address and it doesn't lock anything up.

we would have to allow a grading/learning curve for the a.d.d. students, a curve for the minoritys, a curve for the californians, a curve for the tards, a curve for the disabled........it will never work, to many grading issues for the teacher

Rules of Conduct:

1. No ad hominem attacks.
2. No slanderous, hateful, threatening comments.
3. No Racist comments.

This forum is not any one member’s personal playground. If people want to make personal attacks they should get deleted permanently.

The word "Fuck" probably doesn't upset most mx'ers, i.e., "I broke my fucking arm today!". But when one poster calls another poster a "Fucking asshole", that's when things tend to spin out of control here. Too often people make personal attacks against fellow posters rather than addressing the argument. The end result is a lot of name calling.

Eliminate the name calling, insults, and personal attacks.

"But....but.....can't we all just get along??"

The rules already exist, but many of the enforcers have drifted away. Those that remain are now just "mean people." Motodrive forever!
