How often do you crash?

My goal every time I ride is to come home in one piece. That means I don't grip & rip big jumps even though most other riders might be. I haven't crashed on my motocross bike since I started riding MX regularly again 6 months ago.

Depends on the track too.. the place I usually ride seems geared for faster B + A riders, the way its laid out. I'm pretty cautious on that track.

I raced an MXGP a few weeks ago and was clearing everything that the fast riders were, like the jumps were never right out of a corner and they had safe, downward landings no matter if you jumped halfway or full length. We used to call these camelbacks.

Also I'm even more cautious on a hardpack track, but I try to avoid those types of conditions.

I'm OK being one of the slower riders. I know to hold my line and to maintain awareness of fast traffic - and staying out of the way (far right or left depending).

Some more than others, but I usually lay it over more often than not

I think about once a month. Mostly simple tip overs. About once or twice a year I have a bigger one.

I never got used to it, glad you did.

I Practice days I rode within my means because the medic was too far off. I figured on at least one a day on race days. If I had less than 1 I knew I had 2 or 3 coming my way. Blush

I would say at least a tipover a day on average but luckily only 1 big one a year. Rode 3 days in the last 2 weeks and had 5 tipovers, mainly from getting tired.

I haven't come off since my big one in 2015 when my engine died on the face of a 90 foot table, I got lucky walking out of that one with just bruises. Last one that was my fault was 2014, got some serious swap going on through a whooped out sweeper at Gopher Dunes, nothing like high siding when you're 3rd gear pinned.

crashed very hard yesterday at the fastest spot on the track. no broken bones but dam im beat up and had to limp the bike back to the truck and drive 3 hours home. 1 wash out earlier in the day. first time riding a hard sand track. washing out and getting cross rutted is very easy.

First race in like 6 years on Sunday was good/bad day. Was running 7th came too hot into a corner back end kicked out threw straight off and I got a nice cut down my leg from my Ti foot pegs, still feeling a bit sore. Grinning Once I finally got my bike untangled from the other guys bike who hit me, I found my throttle was stuck so had to pull in get that fixed and go back out. Got last but speed felt good.

Got pinched off on both of my good starts but held it tight and it seemed to work (Am the guy in red kit and on a kawi)

Second Race was in 5th till going up the first uphill, where somehow my fuel line came lose (maybe from the first crash). Nearly went over the bars going up the hill and i was at the furthest point of the track so had to push my bike all the way around back to the pits.

Third race had a shit start and started pulling through the pack made it into 20th hit the inside of this soft sand corner too hard and it just stopped me dead, hurt my right side from it and decided to pull off.

Normally when am practicing I will wash the front end once from trying to push too hard into a corner.

Since 2007 I’ve broken my wrist once in a crash, smashed my face and broke ribs in another. Blew out my mcl and broke foot. Knocked out twice .. so
5 big crashes in 11 years. I don’t count tip overs or little stuff. So one crash every two years about.

Thought so. Not been there for almost 15 years but it was my favourite track. Sorry to hear about your mixed weekend, but glad you're back racing! :D

From when I started riding that track to now over the last 12 years or so the track has hardly changed. Track prep has gone down hill over the years tho that is for sure. Honestly a little glad I was one of the first races because by the last races of the day the track was brutal and felt like Lommel Grinning . Also I learn't that the pub diet is not the race diet Grinning Pinch

I just watched a GoPro video of Norley. Looks exactly like it was the last time I was there! Shame the preps gone down hill, it used to be so good. I know that feeling about diet! I learned about the importance of diet way after I finished racing. Knocking back a couple of bacon and egg baps and two cans of Red Bull was not the best was to fuel up before the racing!

Most of the times I've been on the ground has been in turns, where I lose the front end.
