You say that, but it's been an awful long time since there was a GP that was anything like Indiana or Unadilla. Last year's MXdN was probably the closest we got but even then everyone was doing the jumps. It's really not that common to have a mudder in the GP's recently. I don't think Team USA have anything to worry about if it gets muddy

You say that, but it's been an awful long time since there was a GP that was anything like Indiana or Unadilla. No, but there were four last season: Indonesia, Russia, France and the MXoN itself in England. All were various levels of freak show.

Funny how people have lost perspective on this being a team race. Prado and Herlings can beat Plessinger and Tomac all day long for all I care. And since this thread is about whether or not the race could be a mudder I refer your Barcia comment to 2 of the three overalls he has won the last few years Smile

Nerd Alert: According to weatherchannel.com October in Buchanan Mi. only gets 3.3 inches of rain, July averages 4 inches. In theory better chance of having good weather at MXDN than at the national, but who knows? I can't remember the last time Redbud was a mudder at the national? Course it won't be as warm in October, so if it does dump on Thursday or Friday it won't dry as fast

I was at a Trans Am race in the 70s at Red Bud in October when it snowed a little so there's that possibility as well Wink October in Michigan could be anywhere from 90 and sunny to 40 and wet.

Nailed it. Mud is cool and it’s the great equalizer blah blah blah. But it doesn’t necessarily make the racing better. Just makes the results differ from how they usually are.

Also, didn’t the gp guys have a mud race a year or two ago at the Thai GP and like 38 out of 40 on the gate got stuck on that uphill?

This year has been awesome for weather..... the only bad race has been Valkenswaard. I haven't even bought a rain jacket or hoody to the last few races

2017..... now that was craaaaaaaaap for weather

I did Vet fest several years ago....it rained literally all day on Friday before Saturdays event. They canceled practice to keep the track rolled instead of digging it up and letting the water soak in. Second moto of the day and the track literally fine. The crew there knows how to prepare and prep that track for any occasion.

I was there that year only young and I can still remember it clearly. It was a mud bath to the point where I woke up on my air bed floating in my tent.
The event was also cancelled because of the lime in the mud getting in the riders eyes and burning them and there skin.
