He has a Dutch passport and his first HRC season has been very good. Clearly the best pick for MX2.

Team Switzerland has set up a crowdfunding to help with their expenses.

The team will most probably consist of Jeremy Seewer, Valentin Guillod (MX2) and Arnaud Tonus (Tonus was on the bike for the first time this week, it depends on his progress but he will probably race if Switzerland competes at all)

Really hope Herlings does MX1 this year. Probably cost them the 2016 championship by not doing that.

Yes but as far as I know tonus is still up in the air. He's most probably going but if he can't go, they will have a replacement. Andy Baumgartner.

What is the criteria? To be a citizen of the country or a legal resident? Calvin V. was born in South Africa, so did he become a naturalized Dutch citizen? That one confused me a bit, but if he can ride for the Netherlands they have to be a top 3 team heading into the event, no?
His dad is dutch i thought ,so thats how he got his dual passport. Calvin has raced under dutch license and flag since he was 12 years old and was racing 85 cc in the netherlands , he raced the 125 youth worldchampionship for the netherlands in 2013 . Still racing with dutch license , dont know the reason why he switched for South African flag ( must be because he is also proud to be south african) in MX2 but that backfired as they were not so happy he didnt ask for permission to use it so now he switched it back and use the dutch one in MX2
i dont know the exact criteria , but as he raced for netherlands before its no problem in this case

Who's going to be the team manager anyway? I've read that Marcel Hartman was fired with immediate effect. What was the reason?

Dark horse team IMO. Not for the win but for a podium with a bit of luck. Roczen's quality speaks for itself and he won a Moto at Red Bud already this year. Jacobi has been somewhat of a revelation this season in MX2 and Nagl was just starting to put in some real impressive rides before he hurt his hand. For me they are the 4th or 5th strongest team on paper

The criteria is surprisingly lax.

The rules provide that any rider can ride for any team (regardless of the rider’s nationality, citizenship or residence) so long as the rider holds a license of the national team’s federation.

Does anyone know if they’re using the metal pads for the starts?? Could be a game changer for team USA. Eli’s starts are usually not very good on dirt but he holeshotted like more than half the races once they switched to metal for sx. On the other hand the mxgp guys might not be used to dirt starts

Herlings should race MX1 he has a chance of going 1-1 no matter what. Coldenhoff has a better chance of a top 10 score in mx2 vs mx3. No chance at that in mx1 vs mx3 imo
