He slotted in just behind Yentel Martens in qualifying, which is not bad for first time out on this track. It's going to get gnarly, though. Another interesting name on the qualifying sheets in the 250 class is Erik Eggens.

4 seconds per lap slower than Herlings. But it is not bad. Lichtenvoorde is a gnarly track with alot of deep sand. Races are 30 minutes + 2 laps

Not bad! i bet it will be more like 10sec a lap when the track gets rough.
Is there anywhere we can watch this live?

The event sold out in 1 day months ago (200.000 tickets sold). No reason for them to now pay malcolm to come over.
The dutch championship does not pay start money, just win bonusses. And with mxgp top ridrs at the line i dont see a need to pay stewart.

So i guess it has to be the team, but cant see them paying mega numbers for 1 race

I heard what they payed Hansen and his friends a few years ago for just gooning around a bit... Don't worry about Mookie
yes exactly, either that guys bitter or he dont know very much.

mook dont get off the couch for a pittance.
and ANY american with half a public profile is news at a euro event.

sounds like a great event.

Also this is only 1 fast lap. I don't know about his fitness but it's been a while since he raced. Wouldn't be suprised to see Herlings lap him.

Lol, you really think he's coming for free? The organizers of the Zwarte Cross just love MX themselves, (especially Hendrik Jan Lovink) that's why they let Malcolm come over. They're probably just as pumped about meeting him as every Dutch MX fan. And believe me, money isn't the problem when you organize a festival like Zwarte Cross. Especially when they sell out so quick. They got enough bucks to pay for Malcolm's expenses + a few thousand bucks and after that they probably still turn a huge profit at the end of the day.

I doubt it but will check for you with Arno form Motocrossplanet. There is also an ADAC MX Masters on at Möggers for which there is live timing.

Not MX, but great, great racing, you can watch the Red Bull Rookies cup. First race this afternoon, and the second tomorrow afternoon. This is at Sachsenring, with the MotoGP guys.

Just from my conversations with Justin -
1. No one goes for free.
2. Not everyone goes to goon ride.
3. Mookie didnt get the memo that tear offs are NOT permitted - they are overnighting roll offs to him.
4. Add Marshall Weltin to list of Americans.
5. He stated that the venue is insane. And from photos, I agree.
6. Zwarte Cross is an event, not just a race. 200,000 tickets sold ...

Zwarte Cross is indeed an event to that can not be described in mere words - the crowds, the music, the atmosphere, the fun, the racing. Here's a video of some of the action today.

Why’s it called ‘zwarte cross’?
7/14/2018 10:52am
De Zwarte Cross (black cross) was organized for the first time in 1997. It was a cross-race that everyone could participate in, with a motorcycle, moped, scooter or other means of transport of your choice. The name "Zwarte Cross" caught up with a phenomenon from the sixties, when elaborate pub visitors who boasted too much about their performance on the dirt bike or moped were challenged to prove their abilities in a black cross.

Malcolm Stewart finished 7th in the final round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross @ Zwarte Cross. Not that bad behind 4 factory riders!

During the ZC the track actually is not in such a gnarly condition. They have to keep the track rideable for all the 'special' classes. If this would have been a 'normal' Dutch Masters you would have had 85cc, 125cc, 250cc and 500cc in 1 day, which means when moto 2 for the 500's would start the track would have had 4 practices and 7 moto's. At Lichtenvoorde with it's sand that means a very gnarly track. Now at the ZC they started moto 1 for the 250s on a flat track.

It was nice to have Stewart over, and i know he hasnt raced in a while, but i expected a bit better then between Martens, vd Mierden en van Berkel. But nice gig for Malcom.
