So I'm checking out Honda for 2019 and I notice they're bringing back the flipping monkey and cub! Hell yes! Then I scroll down to notice it's the cub of 60's vintage, not the more modern scooter that we all love to ride but hate to be seen on. Oh well at least were getting the mini bike back, the original monkey. Then I get to the nitty gritty and it's not a 50 but instead a 125! So no cheap as hell no motorcycle license needed moped plate can be had as a moped can't have more than 50cc! How stupid! They already have the grom, why the hell would anyone buy one unless they already have a motorcycle endorsement! Oh well, they'll still sell as off road toys. NOPE. Street tires, no pipe guard, lights everywhere, and a msrp of... sit down people, 4000 flipping dollars! What the hell is going on over there? Is there a strong batch of opium floating around the office? More proof the world is getting dumber every day. C mon Honda, how about another xl/xr line? How about another fat cat? How about a cheap 50 for the masses with a carb, knobbies, and a msrp of under 2k? So now you know, get happy, then sad.
The Shop
the CUB Back!
I dig it though. I'm sure it's a fun little bike and it looks pretty rad if you ask me.
Pit Row
if you're looking for a cheaper smaller get-around toy look at the Honda Ruckus.
it's 50cc and fun as hell. I had one for a bit but here in CA they changed the laws and even a 50cc scooter needs a motorcycle endorsement. The Ruckus top speed is about 35 mph so riding it on the streets here was actually kinda scary and dangerous.
For pit transport at the races or running around your neighborhood they're great. I think I paid like just under $3k brand new? Plenty out there used as well for cheap.
