Matthes makes a fool of himself trying to get attention it's pretty embarrassing.

His general attitude and sense of importance is why I eventually quit listening to pulp completely.

I know I'm in a minority, and I know they are friends and it was in good nature, but I kinda wish A Mart had just saved "suck it" for Pulp MX rather than the actual press conference. Again, it's an apples to oranges comparison, but how would that fly in a bigger sport if an athlete told a journalist to suck it?

I think his objection to riders in jeans is with respect to the MXoN, where the MX2 rider does not ride the 3rd moto and therefore could end up on the podium with his jeans on. And Matthes' objection is that it looks bad in the pictures, 2 guys in gear, one guy in a pickup kit. He likes to rip on Weimer about this, because Jake ended up in his jeans in 2010 at Lakewood. Again, he and Jake are buddies and it's part of their banter.

But I bet you are mostly snively little pricks who take jabs at him on Vital and then can't wait to get the next download. Matthes produces a TONNE (metric, suck it) of content, way more than any other media person or outlet. He has the latest news, views, and races but pays homage to the history of the sport. Yes, he has his "personality" but a lot of it is just that. Part of his act. I've met him at a few races and he's been super friendly and if you catch him at a non-busy moment he will happily bench race with you on anything. Good guy.

I'm a fan of the show, I downloaded a podcast about a month ago for the drive in the redwoods to the Bay Area where I lose everything except spanish, country, and bible banger radio for 3 hours. Matthes likes to suck himself off alot, but the show is entertaining and gives you a peek of what the riders are like away from the track. I now listen to every show, I just find it weird that a grown man like Keefer acts like a 16 year old kid who just starting having regular sex. Act like you've been there buddy. ?

How many other sports have athletes that are as accessible as moto? Do you think the Steven A. Smith texts random things to LeBron? Like him or not, Matthes has a good relationship with most of the guys, and because of that, he's able to get more than the standard "my TLD KTM was really hooking up thanks to my Dunlop tires, blah, blah, blah..." out of them.

Man you are way off base and need to listen a little more closely to the show to understand when Matthes is kidding vs when he's being serious. People shit on Matthes because he says the things and asks the questions that no one else will because they're sucking up to the rider too much and too afraid to hurt their feelings. At least he has the balls to say what he feels is right regardless of how the rider feels and knowing he'll be hurting his chances to talk to A rider in the future.

And for the people bitching about matthes must have no clue what he does for privateers and his listeners.hes not just some loud mouth journalist he brings a lot of inside info to the sport. So because they are accessible, that means it's okay? I like A-Mart and I listen to Pulp every week, so I definitely get the dynamic between those two guys. It's not the end of the world or anything - I'm just saying it made the public relations professional in me cringe to hear it in the official press conference.

All that being said, the racer in me can't help but think how funny would it be for A Mart to show up with a "Suck it Steve" butt patch at the next race...
