I bought these two peaches locally for pocket change, they were both running when someone decided it would be fun to start removing parts and losing them. After the wrench monkey lost interest they apparently rotted in a shed for about ten years.

I powerwashed them, fixed the pipe on the 125, which was crushed almost flat, cleaned the 125 carb and tank out and it runs fine. the wrench monkey has lost the rear fender, rear axle spacers, fork guards and guides, and air filter cage. The last three items are not available from kaw, and of those three the fork guards and guides don't seem to be on ebay (in my short initial search)

anybody know if an aftermarket supplier still has the 90-93 style fork guards and guides?

UFO makes fork protectors for the 91-93 KX 125.

That bike won the 125 shootout that year in a few of the mags. Good suspension, decent power, and good handling.

The air filter cage may be the hardest thing to find. Sometimes people sell entire air boxes on ebay with the filter and cage still in them, so you may have to go that route.

Nice find!

Look on www.denniskirk.com for UFO rear fender and fork guards.

I am EVER so slowly rebuilding one, too. Yours looks good! Keep looking on eBay. Over time, stuff does show up. I bought a set of new forks, OEM rear fender, shock piston band, oil drain plug, cylinder studs, output shaft bearing, output shaft collar and crankcase halves.

Keep up the good work! Thanks for posting your bike.

Thanks for all the replies, guys. I did notice that the UFO fork guards are available, so that is helpful.

the 125 really does not look like it has been ridden that much. God knows I would have had more hours and mangled parts on it by about may 1993 if I had been on the thing when new. I did have a 1993 KX250 in 1994. put about a zillion hours on it, rode it for hours almost every day. it was so hammered when I sold it in 1995.

The KD100M also seems to have been worked on by a lower primate. The bal lbearings in the steering head are all missing. It does not have consistant spark but I did get at least one nice blue spark out of it. and shocked the piss out of myself messing with it. I need to try to remember what little I knew about contact points. The KD100M has great compression and will run five seconds after I get consistent spark.

I usually work on multi cylinder streetbikes for fun , some of my current projects are 74 CB750, 94 ST1100 couple of yamaha FZ6, couple of V-stroms. these simple lightweight bikes are a joy to work on compared to the old multi cylinder four stroke bikes

They get sent to the email you have on your vital account. It's different from the one you sent, so I've sent it to both now.
