Does anyone have pics of these two slides? I wondering what the physical differences between the two are. I assume the #8 lets more air through at closed and small amounts of throttle. Is this correct?

Correct, The carb slide effects up to about 30% opening of the throttle.

lf the slide is not stamped (Chinese?), is there a measurement from the bottom of the slide to the top of angled ramp that one could compare?

Yes on the bottom where the needle comes through. Here is a pic of the Keihin PWK #7 slide I pulled to install an #8 in my yz250.

The slide is not stamped on my Chinese PWK40, the carb works great, l'd just like to know what the slide equates to if l needed a change.

If not stamped then you just have to compare to another stamped number slide . You have the pic above to best guestimate I guess.
