Would be weird to see them head to Shift, because they specifically left Fox for Alias because they wanted the Geico logos to be better placed. IIRC.
And the owner of Alias was/is affiliated with the Geico FC team right?

How could Alais not be doing well? Their direct to the customer selling program is the shit and ive been meaning to buy a set of their gear its actually priced reasonably unlike all the other brands.... the gear industry as a whole has gotten WAY cheaper material and construction wise and the prices have gone way up!
Last set of Alias gear we had ripped in one ride.

Can't get much to come up on their website for available gear. I was going to get my boy some more of their gear during one of their sales but the OS freight cost was very expensive.

Wont happen but Shot or UFO could make a great move if they wanna get recognition in America! Same with ACERBIS if they use there dealers they are now using for plastics and their shipping routes they use for Acerbis Sports (soccer clothing).

But to be honest, brands are paying too much to teams to run their gear. We saw ONE going broke because they pushed on the HRC deal in Europe. Now we see Alias going down. Sponsor money isn't always well spend money. Just do a little quiz with yourself do you know all clothing brands from the big teams without peeking?

Alias is done. Geico will be with Shift for the outdoors. Still with Alpinestars and 6D for now, but after this season who knows what they will do.

I’d bet they will stick with 100% too as they make all of their casual apparel too.

Did anyone else notice that during the off season the training property down in Florida owned by Mike Grondahl (Former Planet Fitness CEO, stakeholder in Geico...
The Nest was Villopoto's property before and Langston's originally. Mike purchased it from Villopoto for his son to use, Eric, who was chasing the pro career for a bit. Last year, Eric stepped out of racing to work at Alias and the Dream Traxx crew leased the property as Roczen nor the other riders there wanted to purchase it out-right. This year, Jason from Dream Traxx purchased The Nest and renamed it the Moto Sandbox to run as a facility, now they lease spots out to guys like Ken Roczen, Adam Cianciarulo, Cole Seely, Chase Sexton, etc...

Id love to see Geico running Shift gear. I dont really care for the look of Alias gear. Geico originally went with Alias because they could have a lot more Geico branding in the gear, but now its just like running any other gear company. Its kind of surprising that no 250 team is running Shift gear IMO. Last year they had Roczen running Shift instead of Fox, but now they just Wilson running it. Time to get their awesome gear some more exposure.

Limited space of top 250 teams.

JGR - guys are free to get their own deals

PC - Fox (owns Shift)

TLD KTM - owned by Troy Lee...

Rockstar Husky - Fly deal

Geico - Alias (one of the team owners owns Alias)

Star - Thor (big money...)

They had Melross and Bowers last year with 51Fifty last year...but top tierr teams are limited and Shift doesn't have the budget to take on brands like Fly and Thor.

ML, since were coming in on the outdoor season, surely if this “shifting” of gear brands is happening, wouldn’t it be announced by now or soon?

I would think so, but I know we didn’t see Kenny switch to Fox until press day at A1 lol. Just curious.

That's a shame I would say over the years I've liked more of their gear sets than I didn't..
Bright side, I won't have to wonder if it's Ayleeus or Ah-li-us anymore

If you don't sponsor professional racers, you're not going to sell much gear. Look at FXR for example. Been making gear for quite a few years now. No top guys wear it and you don't see locals buying it.

Customer direct seems like a good business model because the dealer is cut out and there is more profit for the mfg. I have been watching Alias for a while and this model. I don't think it works. Here is why. Usually when a dealer buys gear they buy SEVERAL sets, like a size and color run or two. All the other companies that sell through dealers are selling thousands of $$ worth of gear to a dealer. The dealer is then stuck with the product and it is there problem to get rid of it. Most dealers have 2 or 3 brands of gear that they favor and stay loyal to that brand. When a customer rolls through the door needing gloves and a jersey the dealer will most likely push the oldest or the most popular product and thus increasing the bottom line for the brand they are loyal to in the end.

Word on the street is that Alias is going away soon.
Not exactly.....most moto brands have now gone customer direct AND selling through dealers. It is simple math, the dealers are not moving enough product, so Brands like Fox/Shift/TLD/Oakley etc etc now offer both. In addition, big online houses like BTO and RMATV have made it very difficult for local dealers to compete. In my opinion, the dealers did this to themselves. Most rarely have much of anything in stock and their prices are full MSRP. A consumer can buy online for less from their couch, not pay tax, and have exactly what they want in a couple days. This doesn't necessarily apply in places like SoCal, but in the middle of Ohio or Nebraska it definitely does. This is precisely why you cannot buy full bikes online as the manufacturers are protecting the dealers......I wonder how long that will last. If you look at the bicycle industry, only the largest brands like Trek and Specialized do not allow online sales. Some like Canyon and YT are full consumer direct. How does that help the dealers? It doesn't, but again the dealers did it to themselves and customers began to look elsewhere.

When do you think we will be able buy a 450 SX from BTO?

Can't believe what I'm reading about people saying "dealers did this to themselves".

Do you honestly think your local dealer WANTS to sell you gear at a higher price than the big online retailers? Hell no, the problem is he bought 5 sets of gear from a certain company while the online giants bought 1000 sets and therefore he probably paid more in wholesale pricing than BTO etc. are selling them for in retail value.

No doubt there are some shitty dealers around, as there are shitty people everywhere, but to think a good local dealer is more expensive because he doesn't want to match online pricing is just flat ass backwards.
