Sorry, street bike question

My son has a Honda 2012 CBR250 that he stored in the garage over the winter. He came home today to take it for a ride and can't find the key. The handlebars are locked. If he goes to the dealer with the VIN will he be able to get a key? Can locksmiths deal with this sort of thing? any help is appreciated.

Yes the dealer would have the factory key code.

No idea on a locksmith. I would just call one and find out.

If the dealer can't help then buy a blank key and go to a decent locksmith. I have had locksmiths make a key that will work in all the locks on a bike just from giving them a lock and a blank key.

You should be able to buy an entirely new ignition with the keys. I think the dealer would have to set it up though

Thanks. Issue is the same key does the ignition, gas tank, and seat.

I remember seeing them 6 months ago. Just have no idea where.

I bought a OEM “kit” off ebay for my buddies gsxr. Came with the ignition, tank, and rear seat locks. If anything else you can get oem parts from a dealer or RM.

If he bought the bike new the dealer folder should have the key code.

Getting the ignition switch out is a bitch.They do not use bolts or allen head bolts they use anti theft bolts. When they put the anti theft bolts in the end snaps off so its fla.
