I noticed that him and Rattray were the only ones on the track> Are they friends?

If I was being unfair Id say that he heard about Simpsons leap in speed and thought that the first three GPs might not be quite the 'egoboost' he was looking for afterall.

Well, leave it to Jiff to get the facts wrong, I guess. His report was that Searle wanted to but an entry wasn't available.

"While the Grand Prix season is just a little over two weeks away, and all the leading riders are busy doing their national titles and preparing for Faenza, it still seems quiet. We reported last month that Tommy Searle was coming to do the first three Grands Prix, however the GP hero isn't one of the regular GP riders, thus he was having trouble getting an entry.

We broke the story a few weeks ago when Searles rival Tyla Rattray mentioned that Searle was coming, then we talked to James Dobb the manager of Searle at the Hawkstone Park International 10 days ago.

Dobber mentioned that Tommy wanted to come, but was having trouble getting an entry. We then contacted Pit Beirer and he said there was nothing official from KTM, and that Searle was in fact struggling to get an entry.

It now seems that Searle won't be coming, which is a pity, I was looking forward to seeing how much he has improved, and also if Shaun Simpson could run with him on similar bikes. Well, we won't know now."

so what does that say for stewart trying to race a few this year?

i call bullshit. if they are keeping Searle from getting an entry because he "isn't a regular," then the MXGP's are fucked up worse than i thought in the first place.

oh, and back to the video, i love watching that guy ride. such a different style than our US riders, very fluid and fast.

he's my darkhorse for the title this year in the AMA nats... behind Pourcel of course Smile

I think that has something to do with it. I was at Canada heights and Shaun was hauling and he didnt look to even be pushing hard... Searle would have had his hands full to beat him... which isnt good confidence for the nationals but still if he was running with Simpson at the front in GPs his speed would be good for the AMA plus it is races under his belt.

personally i think Shaun's form has absolutely NOTHING to do with his decision... why should it? Shaun hasn't ridden against any of the AMA riders so he's hardly a good judge for speed

you really think Tommy wanted to race some GPs just so that he could say "nah nah ne nah nah" when he beats them?? really, you think that??

i'd say he wanted to race them so that he isn't waiting until May 23rd for his first race.... warm up a bit

oh, and Shaun is going to win the World Championship Smile

sounds to me like the "entrance fee" charged by Youthstream maybe causing a few problems.... ie. they want him to pay, even though he's only racing 3 races

that is a wild guess though..... Wink
