One thing I think we will see is this. Big markets like Monster Energy generally think that everyone wants a pick up and play game. I think that MES will be a little more arcade than say MXGP due to this. The flying way off the bike is an indication of this. That part doesn't thrill me. But I also know that this is their very first Supercross game and we have seen Milestone listen to their customers and make improvements each year in the MXGP series. I think the same will be the case here.

By all the videos I have seen, I think if someone rides the track realistically the game does look very realistic. For a simcade game. But when people just pin it everywhere and don't time sections correctly it can look messy.

I'm super excited. Would I like it straight simcade without any over the top stuff? Yes. But I also am thankful for all that we are getting and finally getting a licensed series that can grow with each iteration. And I am sure it will improve with each as well.

I'm pumped.
The problem is that, riding "dirty" is faster than doing all the rythm section perfectly from what I play.

They still haven’t addressed many of the biggest complaints people have had since the original MXGP. I know you’re a total fanboy but come on. The things they’ve fixed are minor compared to the glaring deficiencies they continue to ignore.

It's their first attempt at an SX game yes but they've done 4 motocross games to date not including MES so riders bouncing off other riders and spinning tuff blocks shouldn't be an issues.

They know better than that. They've learned from every video game they've put out and have receive feedback from the community so don't try and make excuses for what you're seeing.

First SX game or not those issues especially the riders bouncing off one another like ping pong balls is inexcusable in my opinion.

That is one advantage to not playing online due to poor internet. I have to play either friends or the AI. And since the AI is never as fast as you guys I can ride more realistically. Lol.

I do think it is a lot of how you ride though that either makes it somewhat realistic or not. Heck, EA Supercross (not the first, the second more arcade game) was arcade as hell and I still felt like it felt more realistic than games like Unleashed with it's air balloon physics. Arcade physics aren't the greatest in the world for sure but having a game with correct scaling and close to the correct game speed as well as accurate replica tracks and not exaggerated jumping goes a long way for me in making it feel right. To me, at least.

Every MES clip we’ve seen has had air-balloon physics. The bikes float like they’re at half gravity.

You're really missing out. Playing online is a lot of fun and a lot more competitive. As you saw in the video the AI even on the hardest difficulty is easy to beat. Online you're always finding yourself in good battles. You always have assholes that just want to take people out but that's why I created the Vital MX community on PS4. Atleast I know if I get taken it out it's more than likely an honest mistake.

Unfortunately for you if you don't have good internet you'll be playing alone since there's no split screen multiplayer in this game. After constantly beating the AI and doing the career and single races over and over again I think the game will become quite boring for you even with the track editor.

The only thing they haven't majorly addressed is making whips free. But again, that is not that important in terms of racing. I think it is far more important to have good ground physics, separate braking, proper shifting, cornering, having to actually use the brakes than whipping. I just don't see the importance. Better air movement...sure. But if you are talking about canned whips, I have to disagree.

But hey, maybe you're talking about something else.

My main concern is at times the bikes look too fast. At times, like the Cooper Webb video I posted it looks spot on. Other times it does look a little fast. And yeah, the AI seems kinda reckless. Nothing too bad. The crash rider going crazy is a bit much though.

I thought MXGP 2 was the dead on right speed and 3 a bit too fast. Supercross slows the game down a litle just due to nature of the tracks but it still seems a bit fast. Nothing too bad, though.

Maybe I am a fanboy. I just like a developer who tries to capture our sport and has the balls to get the license instead of just making all the fake tracks, bikes, etc. And it's not like I haven't enjoyed MVA any. I loved Alive's JS7 stuff. Best console MX stuff ever imo.

Here's a few things they need to address

The bobble head banging AI.
The AI riders need to be smarter & faster.
The ping pong bouncing off the other riders.
The skating rink corner traction.
Air physics. (It's a bike not a plane, can't steer a bike in the air)

Otherwise things are looking pretty good.

i’m scared that they built the tracks based on the replicas but didn’t build them in accordance to how the game plays. as if they were too worried about making the tracks look like the real tracks but they don’t flow properly with the way the game plays.

2 was way better than 3. 3 was way too fast and no feeling of traction or control compared to 2.

Flatout the following is not to attack you but take a minute and think of what I'm about to say.

Did you ever stop and think that maybe acquiring a licence isn't cheap and that the MX vs ATV team might not have the budget to go after it?

With Milestone it was easier simply because Monster is the series sponsor and Feld controls all the events.

With the outdoor nationals you're not only dealing with the series sponsor, the series promoter but you're also dealing with individual track owners and that's a major obstacle to overcome in my opinion. Each track owner has opinions, demands, etc. It's difficult to reach an agreement where everyone is on the same page. Some could be willing to let them incorporate the track for free while other's might only willing to do so if they're paid a certain amount of money. Yes it's been done before but not recently and things might of been easier to deal with back then. The days of handshake deals are long gone.

You might say well the MXGP series has all the real tracks which is correct but I believe Luongo runs his series similar to the way Feld does it. He controls everything. If a track doesn't want to pay his fee he simply goes elsewhere where someone else is willing to pay the fee. I believe some of the places his series goes to it's the Government or town/city that pays the fee and not the track owners.

Concerning the fake tracks, are you seriously saying that even though MES has a track editor that you'll complete ignore it because created tracks are not aunthentic to the game? I hope not because the whole point is to let your imagination run free and create your own masterpiece. Those tracks won't be authentic but you can't say you won't have fun riding them. It's the same thing with the MX vs ATV tracks. Just because something is not authentic it doesn't mean it won't be fun.

Also, All Out will have real bikes but you'll have to get them through DLC. I'm not a fan of that but they'll be available.

Just a thought!

I've been thinking the exact same thing for awhile. I think they could have been scaled and modified a little better to suit the physics of the game.

Thanks for the thoughts, Maverick. All valid points, brother. All good. I just never got how for years MVA was the official game of SX and Mike did the track maps but they never ironed out a full deal. Then Milestone comes out of nowhere and in their first US first release they get the license. That reeks of MVA Just not getting it done.

I totally realize Outdoors is a whole other animal. But we were told SX wasn't possible. Well obviously it is.

I'm cool with non replicas as long as they feel like they could be real. Too many times non replica tracks in MVA games were too fantastic. Their Alive/Encore Nationals for example.

But again. I want both games to be great. So far Milestone has raised the bar with so much more, to me. But full days events and full points series and authenticity are higher on my priorities than whips, freestyle and free riding. But any preference is valid. Its up to each of us to decide what means the most to them.

Just a side note in regards to MX vs Atv and replica nationals. I promise you with the mx vs atv physics replica nats would be trash, there is not enough going on. Think of a track like Budds, you can count the jumps on one hand. So really you would need physics more like milestones to make it work. Everyone is full of ideas but a lot of times all those things don't mesh together.

This is the Milestone MES thread. If you want your opinions to be heard about how bad MvA is, the intelligent move would be to post things like this in the MvA thread. You seem lost. Blink

I did just get confirmation that Fro is NOT in the game. Just the trailer. Just Ralph in this one. Hoping they have time to add Fro and full pbp next year.

MVA can have good less jumpy and more rough tracks if they were to program it that way. Ever play MVA Unleashed with REV mod? Or Reflex Unadilla on PC? Users seem to have no problem programming them. Jumps aren't necessary to have a great challenging track.

Both Milestone and Nordic could easily make good Nationals but both must get game speed toned down a bit as too fast gameplay really rears its head in Outdoor tracks.

I'm just bummed about the collisions. For example, I always play F1 games with full damage and collisions on so every mistake and collision is penalised.

The video posted a page back showed half of the pack bunching up in a rhythm section, stacking up on top of each other and all just carry on with zero crashes. It just feels way too arcade-y.

Upon looking closer and pausing the screen on the options menu, you can see in the details of each option on the bottom that for physics it says in Normal mode the rider will react more realistically and you'll have to use more skill. In Assisted mode the riding will be more forgiving. There is no mention of any Pro physics.

So I think those are the only two options. You can of course put it on realistic, manual shifting and separate braking but looks like Assisted or Normal are it for physics.

Yup. looks like there are two options for physics. There are probably 4 levels of difficulty as well: beginner, normal, hard and realistic?

I'm a little concerned about the game now. I was going to preorder, but I may wait. Sure, the track editor and online racing should be fun, but the career mode is probably going to suck and here's why... it's waaaay too easy. Both Saurone and Motoverte's videos are on realistic and they blew away the AI in three laps after making multiple mistakes.

Whats the point of racing a realistic race day (qualifier, heats, semis, LCQ, and main) if there is no challenge. Sure you'll qualify right out of your heat, but it's going to ruin the career mode. That was one of the problems with the MXGP games, the AI was way too easy, so playing through the career wasn't very fun because there was no challenge.

On realistic difficulty, you shouldn't be able to crash on a triple, blow a corner, smash into a bunch tuff blocks and still be in the lead. Disappointing.
