People have been complaining about the physics since the first MXGP game was seen, and looking at these videos they look to be as wonky as ever. Maybe it's a little unfair to come down on it when I've never played it but just from what I see gameplay wise they haven't really improved. Visually the game looks outstanding, but if I've learned anything from the MXGP games it's that they are going to miss the mark in the gameplay department which ruins the game for me. I honestly hope this isn't the case but they haven't shown me any reason to think differently.

I'm just basing my opinion off what I see and past experiences with games from Milestone.
Dude, don't be a hater, don't you know you aren't allowed to criticize the official game of supercross?!

I'm still sticking to my point that there is something very flawed with their physics. Yes, I know you can make the game "look" good by having a good rider, and I'm sure most of us who play MXGP3 well could put a much better game play video together than what has been released. But, that doesn't make it right. If you can hit a rhythm section like whoops there is something wrong. I don't see how this can be argued. If you case a jump badly enough, you should come to a complete stop and lose momentum, not bounce into the next jump and continue on. I don't even hate this game, in fact I think it looks pretty awesome, and I'm going to buy it. I just think there needs to be more tweaking with the physics.

I played the hell out of that game. I grew up as a little chap watching my dad race on dirt tracks and couldn't get enough of letting it hang out on that game. One of the best games ever made IMO with the career mode, tear off feature, etc.
That's awesome and I can relate. My dad and grandfather both raced sprint cars.

Yeah, could some aspects of the game be improved? Maybe, but we haven't played the game yet to find out. This game is Milestone's first crack at American SX, and it looks great! You can customize the damn grips people! Ok, maybe, the whip won't feel free enough, but who gives a flying fig newton when we get all the customization, custom track maker, the environments, and graphics. SX gamers are familiar with the shallow gameplay, mediocre graphics and presentation of the past and this game is a massive step up and crushes anything in OUR market up to this point. Milestone DOES listen to the community, and they do make changes. So, if the in-air physics aren't there yet, they will eventually get there. They already attempted to make the air physics better in this current version.

Yeah, I see a few stiff elements in the rider/bikes, but as a whole, this game is looking spectacular.

The thing that is perplexing is the same lame ad on the MES broadcasts. It's not that great. They need to take advantage of the sponsor, something similar to "the Science of Supercross," or "Make-up, and Mud" where they showcase the customization, track editor, graphics and show someone who knows how to play the game on unlocked physics.

It depends on who is playing the game. The physics in the second San Diego gameplay video looked much better than the previous game footage. The rider looked looser and the whips looked better. Maybe the player was playing with the controls 100% unlocked and the other videos were with the assists on. Milestone also mentioned they have been working on the game physics and animations.

I played the first MXGP and thought the physics were ok. The ground physics were decent, but some other areas were lacking. The main gripe I had with MXGP was the career mode got boring real quick. The A.I wasn't competitive enough and there weren't enough variables to keep it fresh for multiple seasons. And racing the same tracks over and over again got boring. But, as I mentioned before, no MX game has gotten the physics totally correct.

Milestone has added improved graphics, modified physics, weather effects, etc. with their MXGP sequels. Now, with the very first release of MES, they improved the graphics over MXGP3, even more, added a ton of customizations, included a track editor and wrapped it all in a fantastic shell with sweet looking interfaces, etc. What's not to like? This is a day one purchase for me and I don't even play video games very much anymore.

I saw this on pitbits and was wondering it that means we'll get updated riders in a patch or something since it says these scans are for the upcoming game

There's a difference between constructive criticism and hate. I think you make some valid points. You shouldn't be able to case a triple and roll out and not lose much momentum. Unfortunately, a lot of MX games let you get away with that stuff because they're not hardcore sims. Hopefully one day we will get options for this, different sensitivity levels. Arcade, Game and Realistic. On arcade, the kiddies can bounce off everything and on realistic if you case a triple you're going to pay for it. Also, it would be nice if they add mechanicals and injuries on a realistic setting definitely would add another layer of variety to a career mode.

It's probably for next years MES game. This years game is the 2017 season, next years will be 2018. The same formula they use for the MXGP series.

I have to agree, that San Diego video didn't look too bad, far from great, though. Then he started whipping and it's the same BS from MXGP3. Also what is with the spaces in the middle of the rhythms? If you can even call them rhythms like that.

Like I said, visually the game is second to none and I applaud them for all the things they've added and even just making the game in general. But from what I see, the physics still don't look very good at all, I mean you can't even control your own whip it's just a set animation. To me these things are game breaking and if I learned anything from the MXGP games it's that they don't seem to care and won't fix it, no matter how broken it is.

For the record I'll probably buy the game and play it for a bit, but you can't just sit here and say how great everything is if you want anything to improve.

I'm looking forward to the game, but not the 2017 tracks. I have mx vs atv supercross and got the track pack where you download the new track every Tuesday and I didn't like any tracks from last year. I hope they have some kind of 2018 track pack for this game so you can get the new tracks each week.

You can probably make the 2018 tracks with the track editor. There may be a few obstacles that aren’t available in the game, but I would say you can get pretty close.

I was just about to post this myself. I think there is a community file as well where we can download custom tracks if I'm not mistaken and there will more than likely be 2018 tracks.

i’d say even tho it’s the same tracks, they’re going to have a completely different feel with the sx game. sorta like the same tracks in mxgp2 and 3, even tho they were the same tracks imo they all still felt and rode a little different. id think it would be even more so since it’s two completely dfferent companies making the tracks

Well, nearing the end of the games life, I have put some 55 days on that game. Love it to death. I’m not too worried about the next release.

Couple little things I've noticed, there's some odd rider names that I've never seen or heard of before. I know it's been said before but the points system when you jump, I personally don't think it's needed. Is that a feature in the MXGP games? If so what does it actually do? Help level things up?

One thing I really wish they would fix is the whoop sections. It's like they're non-existent.

WHY CANT WE GET A VIDEO OF SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CAN PLAY THE GAME?!? I'm still yet to see a video of someone hitting the corner before the finish line and jumping it yet. Jesus dude!

^There is definitely some stuff that could be improved upon, but it's looking solid for the first installment in the Supercross series. I also think I saw in another video that he was playing on easy, not sure if he's doing the same in this video, though.

I think it's because the video's are coming from guys who review all types of different videogames as oppose to guys who actually have experience riding real bikes or playing moto games.

Some of the bigger YouTube guys concentrate on specific games like COD, Battlefield, etc. and those have a lot of followers and very good video's because that's mainly what they concentrate on.

I think it would be very difficult for an individual to build up an MX gaming channel simply because the fan base is smaller, there's only a few games out on the market, not much DLC content, etc. The more content a developer puts out for a game the easier it is to put out video's to your subscribers.

Maybe time for Vital and its members to start sending video's so Vital can upload MX gaming content to their YouTube channel? Just an idea.

I totally agree. We can only hope that this will lead to a patch with updated riders/teams. I see a lot of people speculating that it’s literally for next year’s game. With that being said, my question is this...is this series that Milestone is putting out ALWAYS going to be a year behind? We are three rounds into the 2018 season and fans are getting accustomed to seeing the changes that took place in the offseason. For example, Justin Hill with the #1 plate on a Suzuki. In the latest San Diego gameplay video, it obviously doesn’t illustrate that.

I guess it just baffles me to think fans would be interested in a game that is launched 9 months after a season is complete. Can you imagine if EA Sports dropped Madden 19 in November 2019 with 2017 rosters? It wouldn’t fly, so why is it okay for this series to be a year behind? Personally, I don’t even enjoy playing a game of Madden (or any other sports game) without downloading the most up-to-date rosters. I’m not saying Milestone needs to keep up-to-date throughout the season with rating changes, injuries, etc. but at least provide us with a patch to make the game CURRENT.

As you said gt757, I really hope these captures are for a patch for this year’s game and not for a future release.

It seems like those who are complaining about the realism of the game are those who ride the bike from 6 feet behind the rider haha. Ride in 1st person perspective (you know like in real life lol) and the games have been awesome.

I think it has to do with the fact that they scanned the tracks as oppose to just looking at the track maps and building the tracks.

They were at the rounds last year to scan the tracks and the stadiums. Maybe the future release will be up to date.

I do wish they would show a gameplay video of actual first person view. I like others only play their games in first person. 3rd person view doesn’t do it for me awkward and clunky as others said. Be sweet they put out a 1st person view moto. Game looks promising to say the least ???

There is simply no way to 1 to 1 replicate the track and arena until AFTER the event. Plus it takes a lot of time to implement all this. Doing it a year behind just makes sense.

The fact someone would complain about it being a year behind baffles me. I mean we've never ever even got everything replicated like MES.is doing. To complain about it because it's not current and up to date is just too much. Again, there is no way to truly replicate an event, stadium and track until after it has happened. They took drone footage and what they call photogramatry to get it almost perfectly. Its not just from a map. And then it takes months to get that implemented correctly.

This is the only way to truly do it correctly.

Haha it baffles you that people expect current riders and teams? Hmm..THAT baffles me. I get your point about capturing exact tracks for the 2018 season, but riders and team updates should be a simplistic fix. Every other game provides weekly updates. A one-time fix is not asking for much. I’m beyond excited for the game, but I am simply pointing out the ways that I believe would make its shelf-life increase and to get maximum enjoyment out of it.

That video with Hill just makes it look like you can hold it on, case everything and still just be fine and race. It looks like the sections have been modified into jumpable sections to suit the physics.

It demonstrates no skill for down siding jumps or any sort of timing, which is basically the main objective in SX. Not sure if I'll cop this game, seems like they are missing the ball with the gameplay. Everything else in this game looks amazing but to me, it should be the latter consideration.

That track was made pretty poorly. All of the other tracks that they have shown have properly scaled jumps, in my opinion at least. But San Diego is shit.

I do wish they would show a gameplay video of actual first person view. I like others only play their games in first person. 3rd person view doesn’t do it for me awkward and clunky as others said. Be sweet they put out a 1st person view moto. Game looks promising to say the least ???
Ditto. Already pre-ordered but I would like to see some first person gameplay. It is definitely the way to play the MXGP series. Hoping there aren't any changes to it for this game!

WHY CANT WE GET A VIDEO OF SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY CAN PLAY THE GAME?!? I'm still yet to see a video of someone hitting the corner before the finish line and jumping it yet. Jesus dude!

Nah man, it looks and sounds like whoever is playing is doing some of that on purpose. He let’s off before some of the triples and almost stops in the finish corner. Maybe to make it seem more challenging than it is.

Either way, get someone who can actually play to give the people buying a good representation of the game.

Don't get me wrong. Perfectly up to date rosters would be cool but the riders bikes wouldn't be actually replicated perfectly as they are in this game nor their gear because they aren't released till a little before A1. It def takes more than a month and a half to scan and recreate in game all the correct bike livery and gear.

I understand what you're saying but to really make it look perfect and authentic you do have to use the previous year roster so you have time to scan all the bikes, gear, signage, riders, arenas and tracks and get them all working perfectly in game. That doesn't take any fun factor away for me. I just play in my mind as if I'm in the 17 season.

To each his own, of course, but I do think this is the best way if you really want it replicated perfectly.
